Just finished the 1936 - 1947 Germany scenario. On the easiest level, no problem. I quickly absorbed Austria and Czechoslovakia. Moved onto Poland and pushed them out of the way. France came next - again no problem. There army is of a pretty low quality.
Then I moved onto bringing Eastern europe into my orbit. I soon had the USSR penned back. Any attempts by Britain to cross the channel are not very effective by the computer. It doesn't seem to have the ability to stage an invasion with overwhleming force. So with my western front secure, I was just in time to catch the sneak attack by the USSR. The only tactic here is to out as many top quality units in the front line. Don't bother defending river crossings - the computer won't dare try this. What the USSR will try to do is steam-roller you. If you can hold on for about four months they will run out of reserves and you will find yourself being able to counter attack and push them back. If you can keep winning battles then the USSR will gradually weaken.
My killer blow was bringing Turkey and then Persia and Afghanistan into the Axis. India had long been conquered by Japan. With their southern front under threat the USSR was put off balance. I took to using a mixture of motorised troops, cavalry and paratroops to slice into southern russia. The paratroops would seize land and the other troops were brought up to hold the corridoor. Soon I had the whole of the Ukraine and Caucasus in my hands, and the Russian position was in tatters. A gigantic pincer movement with paratroopers and light tanks/motorized infantry brought me up behind Moscow, and the whole Russian front was rolled up. By 1944 the Russians were pushed deep into Asia. My paratroopers again allowed lightning advances to be made. Within a few months all of the former USSR was in my hands (actually controlled by my persian ally - but no matter).
Meanwhile, I had sent a small force into Iraq and Egypt and pushed the British out of the Levant. Paratrooped cleared the Brits out of the Persian gulf.
I turned my attention to the British Isles. I launched air attacks for a week on Portsmouth and then sen in the Paras to seize it. The Brits folded very quickly - within a month.
I then sent a small force on troop ships to conquer the British African colonies and South Africa. Again, very small forces used.
Into 1945, and I sent an expedition against Canada. Paratroopers again allowed lightning advances over large distances. The canadians were not much opposition.
I sent in my troops into South America and conquered everything from Brazil to Guatemala. I didn't need aircraft carriers to ferry aircraft over as I freighted the larger range ones via the Azores.
Then the big one - the invasion of the US. The US was deeply involved in the pacific. It had conquered the Japanese home islands. But it wasn't ready for being attacked from the north and all along it's coast line. A long slog took place up to 1947, until I finally broke through and captured the industrial north east and Washington. I nuked all of the large US cities. See how they like it. In December 1947 all the US had left in the home land was the rockies (and of course it's pacific acquisitions).
In November I rushed an invasion of mexico - a mistake as this is one of the more difficult countries to invade. Lots of mountains and swamps. But with the right preparation - it can be done.
