I don't know if it's my computer/browser that's acting up or what but almost none of your images are showing up... if you're using imgur, might want to use the "Use BBForum Code" link instead as that one worked for me when posting.

Cant confirm that. From my perspective the pictures are fine.
Dont want to sound like the wise guy, its just to give a second perspective ok?

Thanks Sebas - I credit the LARM divisions with armored cars on plains - they just move *so* fast especially when the INFRA is good.

Lol Count - yeah I was pretty shocked at the behavior of Poland - the AI did its usual thing where it puts troops at the frontier and then tries to withdraw, but the way it did it left huge gaps that my light tanks just warped past. It was kind of strange. If I had been more attentive to production I could've used PARAs too to make it even faster, but unfortunately they slipped my mind and won't be ready for a few more days yet lol.

Markkur - I fear there may not be any Soviet spearheads to speak of lol We'll see I guess. I may have to go the "assault troops" route and use infantry spearheads! lol That would be fun.

Wraith - I'll try uploading using the other code. Usually I'm the one that has the funky computer problem! I'm just uploading and using the "direct link" and then feeding that to the forum's image option, so maybe that's the problem.

Welcome aboard Sir Dippingsauce!

For posterity's sake a bit of an intermezzo

I wanted to get Yugoslavia into the Axis quickly - their neutrality is *not* falling fast enough with threat rise on the UK alone - I think I need threat increase on the USSR as well to get them to join faster - I still have a few months to try I guess. I mainly want to preserve Yugoslavia because A. They have divisions that could be used by the Axis, and B. The border down there can get really funky and wreak havoc on the AI's ability to function properly in the Balkans. C. I think Yugoslavia could do quite a lot of damage to Greece and so it would prevent Italy from getting bogged down in Greece forever. It would also prevent Italian troops in Albania from potentially being destroyed (I've seen AI Greece completely encircle and destroy lots of Italian divisions there). Historically they did join the Axis too (then a coup changed that).

I also made a mistake in not doing more to butter up Hungary. I think Soviet threat increase would solve that issue too. But maybe the winter war will do the work for me.

My influence on Portugal was wasted - because they refuse to join the Axis even though they meet all the requirements. A victim of my Germany inexperience! Happily enough the UK started influencing them, after the war started, and that backed them out of the Axis corner, so at least my "ready to join faction" alert went away lol. So that's nice. My pipe-dream was that I could somehow get them into the Axis and distract Britain and France with invading Portugal and all of its various holdings throughout the world lol. But such a thing is an impossibility it seems.

Generally, Portugal doesn't join the Axis unless Nationalist Spain is in the Axis; and getting Spain in has been difficult in the past (I've managed to get them in before the war started in FtM and TFH). I'm pretty sure that Romania and Hungary have events which push them Axis.

The Invasion of Denmark

Considering that the war was over so quickly in Poland, it has been decided that we should move immediately on Denmark once the requisite forces (planes and ships) are in position to do so.

At 17:00 hours on September the 7th, the Soviet Union asked if we would indeed honor the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact, we replied in the affirmative.

We reassigned Tank armies 1, 2, and 3 to the Western Army Group, infantry armies 1-2 will remain in the Eastern Army Group to guard against Communist tricks!

The vile RAF began bombing our vital infrastructure and resource stockpiles on the 7th of September as well, but the pilots of the Luftwaffe were ready to meet them in battle in the skies over Germany. Damage was minimal production remains at full.

Ho_I3_39.jpg

The same bombing force was intercepted twice more on its way back to the UK - surely they won't be back for some time!

Unfortunately on the 8th of September word reached us that one of our Submarine wolf-packs, the 3rd SS, had come under attack by a large French-British task force, and urgently needs to return to a safe port for repairs - it has been decided to delay the invasion of Denmark until such a time as the 3rd SS can return to the Baltic Sea for repairs.

On the 10th, the Australians joined the Allies.... Fools.

On the 11th of September the 3rd SS had returned to base and we responded by declaring war on Denmark!

Battle Plan: Denmark -=Ignore the other little ship in the North it is purely imaginary=-

Ho_I3_1.jpg

The battle for Copenhagen began at 13:00 hours on September 11th with The Bismarck's Battle group providing cover for the transport fleet carrying 2 divisions of Marines - one attempted to take the city directly, the other to forge a beachhead on the South-West outskirts of Copenhagen itself to force the defenders to fight on two fronts.

The Northern Army crossed the border on foot - they have no armored or motorized transport at their disposal, so it is the Wehrmacht's hope that they have a pleasant stroll through Denmark.

New Zealand responded by joining the Allies - it is very much in doubt that they will be able to affect a rescue of Denmark however.

On the 15th of September, von Salmuth's marines reported that they had routed the defenders of Copenhagen.

Unfortunately, the Danes gave up far more of a fight than the Poles did - we took 295 casualties - it is thought that this is greater than or equal to the losses taken in the entire Polish Campaign.

The Danes also resisted at Arhus - Major General Lohk reports taking 212 causalities - the Danes are putting up quite the fight. They were however, still unable to hold the port.

On September 18th, the Danish government fled Denmark and their armed forces fled the country. Denmark is ours. The Danes lasted nearly 7 days. The Danish surface fleet was not in port when we attacked and it is assumed they have made their way to the UK or France.

The Invasion of Norway

Having secured Denmark and assuring that the Baltic Sea is now completely safe from Allied naval efforts, it has been decided to invade Norway, with haste, to protect Sweden from Allied meddling.

There is no need of a battle plan here however - this action will be carried out entirely by the Bismarck and the transport fleet.

On September 18th, we ceded control of Greenland and Iceland - we'll never be able to supply any troops we put there, the Bismarck may be mighty, but it's not *that* mighty.

On Sept 21st, more Allied bombers appeared, this time they did manage to do damage, but were intercepted twice while returning to the UK. The 1st Interceptor wing was relocated further North to provide air cover for Bismarck should a repeat of the Battle of Jutland be attempted.

At 14:00 on September the 24th, we asked Sweden to allow us military access - they acceded. War was declared on Norway shortly thereafter and the fleet was set in motion.

On September 26th, Battle Group Schlesien found and destroyed 2 Danish submarines operating the Baltic.

On September the 29th, Major General Clossner reported that Oslo was about to fall.

Ho_I3_54.jpg

What resulted was the costliest battle of the war so far. We took 518 casualties in the battle for Oslo, but the city was captured all the same on October 1st.

Norway responded at midnight on October the 2nd by completely surrendering to Germany, we have annexed Norway. -=This should really help out the AI since the Allies can't build under-ground resistance in Norway now).

The Bismarck's battle group now will engage in its most dangerous task yet - ferrying troops from Army Group North to the various ports of Norway. It is certainly possible that a large naval engagement may result.

Oct-November 1939.

This period will be marked by Battle Group Bismarck's foray into the North Sea, and even briefly into the Arctic, Convoy raiding of the Allies, and defending ourselves from air raids.

On October 17, tragedy struck, as we lost contact with one of our u-boat packs completely.

The 3rd SS was shortly thereafter forced to return to base for repairs having lost one of its U-boat squadrons.

Our raiding capabilities are now greatly reduced, but we have managed to sink somewhere on the order of 115,000 tons of Allied shipping.

The 2nd SS (consisting of type IX subs) has also reported that it lost one of its U-boat squadrons and must return to base.

Allied counter-measures to our raiding are extremely potent at this time.

By November 20th, the Bismarck had completed her mission and returned to base without incident, Norway is now firmly girded against Allied intervention. The 1st Cav division is now on station in Norway to assist anti-partisan efforts.

However on November 21st, we were forced to recall all but one of our U-boat squadrons due to damage suffered in the campaign.

On November 22nd, however, a bit of good news came our way, as Persia joined the Axis. The Axis now consists of: Germany, Japan, Italy, Slovakia, and Persia.

The Winter War

On November 30th at 19:00 the Soviet Union declared war on Finland. What ensued can only be explained photographically.

On December 8th (8 days of war)

ztwwRI2.jpg

On December 24th, the Soviets finally managed to take a piece of Finnish territory.

By February 17th, they had managed to beat the Finns back from Murmansk and secured the approaches to the so-called Mannerheim line, as well as some progress elsewhere.

2rK9onL.jpg

There the lines would stay until the war ended on February 24th, an ignominious disaster for the Soviet Union and a heroic feat of arms performed by Finland.

I always laugh at the winter war because the fact that the fucking Soviet Union can't beat Finland. Now, granted, Army purge, still modernising, but c'mon you guys. IT'S FINLAND.

Germany in Review:

Here I will discuss the state of Germany, both its armed forces and its diplomatic state, and it's economy as I depart from playing Germany. This speaks to Germany as of 16:00 February 24th.

The Army:

Art 97 brigades
AT 72 brigades
MARM 24 brigades (This is a failure of my objective by 1 brigade) -=the last ARM is in the queue and won't be deleted by the AI=-
AC 22 brigades
Mtn 7 brigades
CAV 2 brigades
ENG 3 brigades
GAR 33 brigades
INF 179 brigades
LARM 28 brigades
MAR 6 brigades
PARA 3 brigades
MOT 88 brigades
SPART 20 brigades -=the last 5 SPARTS are in the queue and won't be deleted by the AI=-

Air Force:

CAS 6
INT 16
MRF 3
TAC 8
TRA 1 -=there has been one nearly finished at the bottom of the queue for ages=-

Navy:

BC 2
BB 1 -=Tirpitz is nearly finished and won't be deleted by the AI - it also is a full tech level above Bismarck)
CA 6
DD 5
CL 12
SS 6 -=massive losses in the battle for the Atlantic - but they were mostly older models=-
LC 6 -=two more are in the queue I doubt the AI will remove them=-

Production:

-=
I loaded up as Tibet and let the game run for 4 months and checked back on the Germany queue - my items were all still there if they hadn't already finished=-

In queue right now are: 2 LCs, 1 TRA (near finished), Tirpitz, 1 ARM division, 5 SPART, 3 MRF, 3 CAS, 1 PARA division, 1 run of convoys, two runs of GAR divisions (3 remaining in each run), 4 u-boats, 4 light cruisers, 2 level 10 air base upgrades in a run. All will be completed by November 1940 according to the queue timer.

Upgrade Need
:
1940 tech levels are not complete yet, but there is 50 IC required for upgrades at this time. That 50 IC mainly belongs to the GAR divisions, and land divisions in the East - the tanks are all upgraded to priority, as is Bismarck.

I have not built a rocket test site - I imagine the AI may, and it is free to do so, it should not need to build any further land divisions with the exception of maybe some HARM.

Espionage:

Our spy networks are mostly destroyed by the war-time atmosphere. 6 spies remain in France. They claim France's National Unity is at 36%, but their estimates have been known to be incorrect in the past, and besides, France can now enact war-time laws due to being at war with Germany. But hopefully this assures a swift surrender.

Technology:

All Land-air-sea techs are ready to be upgraded to the 1940+ level, some industrial techs already have their 1940 tech levels. Many are already in queue and have research put towards them (some are about to complete already - infantry/tanks in particular). All land doctrines are ready for the 1940 tech level upgrade, all pertinent (non-carrier) doctrines are to the 1941 tech level with the exception of basing and spotting.

Diplomacy:
We unfortunately have failed to get Yugoslavia into the Axis. Germany will hopefully be able to deal well with her when the time comes, but I do feel some regret at not properly manipulating threat to obviate the problem.

Hungary and Bulgaria are both drifting solidly Axis and should join up within the next 1 1/2 years. The AI shouldn't have to use influence to get them in, it's a matter of their neutrality not their alignment on the triangle.

Persia is in the Axis and should be quite a challenge for the USSR and maybe the UK should Germany call her to Arms.

Finland is also drifting very strongly Axis.

The Economy:

Germany has 99,999 energy and gains over 80 per day
Metal: 95,650, now gaining 2 per day (was at max, but the situation has been corrected)
Rares: 94825, losing 22 per day will run dry in 11.8 years - outside the frame of the game.
Crude: gain 24 per day
Fuel: gain 41 per day.

Germany's economy is in excellent standing.

So ends part 2.

Yeah Wraith I hadn't really messed around with Portugal in the games I'd played as Germany (the idea of having to take care of an allied Spain always made me queezy) so I figured it could be something interesting. I made a major blunder in not raising threat on the USSR, but I think it will all work itself out - it'll be interesting to see if Yugoslavia will maybe join anyways since it's so closely aligned and only needs a few more points of neutrality drop to be eligible. Operation sweet sweet Tungsten is a sad failure :( lol.

lol yeah Sir Dippingsauce - the real winter war was embarrassing enough for the USSR, but at least they didn't nearly lose Murmansk to the Finns lol. The AI did a particularly bad job this time around lol.

Intermezzo for comedic purposes and science!

What does a France that has done nothing for 4 years look like?

They start 1936 with

2 armor brigades, 99 infantry brigades, 3 light armor, and 8 MOT brigades.

3 INT and 5 TAC

6 BB and 1 CV

What do they have as of the end of Feb 1940?

6 armor brigades, 105 INF brigades, 3 light armor, and 16 MOT brigades.

6 INT, 2 CAS, 1 MRF, and the 5 TACs

They added 1 BC (starts in the queue).

Quite the masters of industry over there.

Also their NU is 25% now.

I don't regret not raising threat on them now lol.

The State of the Soviet Union

State_Emblem_of_the_Soviet_Union_%281936%E2%80%931946%29.png

It was a cold and snowy evening in Moscow. A faceless bureaucrat at the Central Statistical Directorate decided that before taking a jaunty stroll through the heavy flakes falling on
Manezhnaya Square, he ought to review the latest reports regarding the accumulation of rare materials in the Soviet Union. For some reason those layabouts at GOSPLAN were insistent that this work be done immediately. Opening the creased and thoroughly ragged manila folder, what he saw startled him.

The Soviet Union only had roughly, 8,700 of these so-called rare materials. Vital to industrial production, and that quantity was decreasing rapidly. 22.5 per day. Why... That would mean the USSR's industry would come to a complete halt in almost exactly one year. ONE YEAR! This was a certifiable crisis! Something had to be done immediately! Whichever wrecker was responsible for this would surely be forfeit!

Flipping through the finger-print stained pages of the report, it was discovered that the USSR produced a huge quantity of these materials, but for some reason 59 of the USSR's daily production was traded away! To whom!? Who could be so important!? 50 of them were going to Nazi Germany. The fascists! 5 were going to the fascists in Spain no less! Several more were being sprinkled throughout the degenerate capitalist world! Surely, this is the work of a traitor!

--------------------------------------

I decided to write a little vignette so as to highlight the deplorable state of the Soviet economy.

Economy:

Energy: We are maxed out. Well, at least that's taken care of.
Metal: We have ~18,600 - decreasing by 37 each day. That cannot stand. We'll run out in less than a year and a half.
Rares: We have ~8.700 decreasing by 22.5 per day - we'll run out in almost exactly a year's time.
Crude: 54k - We are converting far more than we produce, but we have a solid stock-pile so all is well.
Fuel: nearly maxed out. Phew.
Money: about 1k dollars, but we only bring in $0.6 a day, so there isn't a whole lot of wiggle room.

Supplies. We are currently putting almost no IC into supply production, and have a stockpile of 53k, but the production menu says 43 IC required. That is worrisome.

The only way to fix this in the limited amount of time is to cancel several AI made trade deals.

In fact, I think shock therapy may be in order. I will cancel *all* trade deals relating to any resource amount over 5 dealing in metal and rares.

Although that gets us back into the green on metal and rares, it puts us in the hole for 8$ a day. The AI is trading for 243 supplies. That is an astronomical amount of supplies. Come what may, I will have to cancel some of those deals.

After cancelling numerous trade deals, we now are making 5$ a day and over 20 a day in both metal and rares. The economy was not hopelessly broken. We are now only trading for 169 supplies and the supply pool is not dropping despite putting no IC into it, that is ideal.

Government:

nWqKZTb.png

Maxim Litvinov was replaced by Vyacheslav "iron ass" Molotov as Foreign Minister (that really was his nickname you can look it up).
(Litvinov provides the useless + Comintern trait, while Molotov increases our threat sensitivity and supports the ruling party - at least it's something).

Lazar Kaganovich will have to remain in charge of armaments because I fear for our metal and rare stockpiles.

Sergiy G. Gending was replaced for Lavrenti Beria as Security Minister.
(Gending provides the counter-intelligence trait, Beria ups partisans, but also adds ruling party support - better than nothing).

Ivan I. Proskurov will remain the Head of Intelligence.

Kiril Meretskov was replaced by Boris Shaposhnikov as Chief of Staff
(Meretskov provides +org regain, Shaposhnikov gives +5% to manpower - I have a feeling we're going to need MP - badly).

Stalin will remain Chief of the Army (-10% supply consumption)

Admiral Nikolai Kuznetsov was replaced for Ivan Isakov
(Kuznetsov gives bonus to capital ship decay, which is nice, but we have 0 practical in capital ships so... However, Isakov increases naval base efficiency, so at least that's something!)

Alksnis will remain as Chief of the Air Force
-=despite dying in the purges IRL=-

We are currently demobilized.

Production:

In the queue right now in order as they appear in the queue -=this is amazing=-

1. 2x INF, AT + AC

IC Needed for Reinforcements: 0
IC Needed for Upgrades: 14

Espionage:

We have no active spies in any nation, but 10 active domestic spies.

Diplomatic Front:

We aren't influencing anybody currently, and the only nation near our corner, Communist China, is drifting away towards Axis.

Technology:

Rather than go into detail I will provide a summary of each tech type broadly.

Infantry: Up to date, ready for 1940 tech level research
Mobile: Mostly up to date, AC guns are way behind, Heavy Tanks are 2 cycles behind.
Escorts: Completely forsaken no research has been done here
Capital: Completely forsaken
Bomber: 1939 techs are ready for research - one cycle behind in all techs
Fighter: one cycle behind in all techs
Industrial: Up to date - ready for 1940 cycle
Theory: Supply theories are massively behind, civil defense is up to date.
Land Doctrine: A mess, some techs haven't been touched, some are up to date, some are behind a cycle.
Naval Doctrine: Forsaken, except it's currently trying to research spotting -=cancelled=-
Air Doctrines: Pilot trainings are all 1 cycle behind, everything else has been completely forsaken. excepting ground attack tactics for CAS and interdiction for TAC

Our practicals for most useful things are maxed out or near max.

It has been decided that similar shock therapy must come down on our R&D departments as well, everything will be removed from the queue and what is deemed necessary will be placed instead.

Misc.

Our officer ratio isn't terrible so that is a blessing. Also we have 40+ diplomatic points, not sure what I'll use them for, but maybe a use can be found for them.

---------------------------

Stay tuned for next-time when we explore.... the OOB!

That seems like a lot of Armored Cars for leg infantry... unless it's actually something else and I don't know the abbreviation.

The State of the Soviet Navy

su~1935c.gif

The ultimate guardians of the revolution the Red Navy, is in complete disarray.

The composition of the current Navy is as follows:

BB - 3
DD - 5
CA -1
CL - 3
SS - 23
TP - 1

They are currently concentrated at the Kronstadt port at Leningrad, Arkhangelsk, and in Murmansk - there are no other Soviet Naval vessels in any other port in the world.

All surface ships are pre-1936 technology. All SS's are built with pre-1934 technology.

They will be reassigned as follows:

Submarines:

10 type II submarines will remain in Leningrad
7 4 type II, 3 type III submarines will be rebased to Murmansk.
6 type II submarines will be rebased to Sevastopol

Surface Ships:

BB - Marat, BB - October Revolution, and 6 DD's will be formed into the Baltic Fleet and re-based to Leningrad.
BB - Paris Commune, CA - Krazny Kavkaz, 3 CLs, and 1 DD will be formed into the Black Sea Fleet and sent to the Black Sea.
1 TP will be formed into the 1st Transport Fleet and reassigned to Leningrad.

Vladivostok has no naval forces, and none will be sent there for some time due to the travel times involved.

The State of the Red Air Force

300px-Flag_of_the_Soviet_Air_Force.svg.png

Stalin's Falcons are in a less disheveled state, and will be the a pillar of strength for the USSR.

The composition of the VVS is as follows:

CAS - 12
INT - 14
TAC - 9

-=All planes are rebased to Moscow for sorting ease=-

-=Now that the easy work is out of the way.....=-

The State of the Red Army

450px-Red_Army_flag.svg.png

The Red Army is currently organized into 6 theaters, fitting, as the USSR spans 1/6th of the globe.

The first theater to receive attention shall be the Far Eastern Theater which covers an area from Western Mongolia to Vladivostok.

The Far Eastern Theater Contains:

23 land units

1 GAR, 1 MTN, 1 MOT, 1 LARM, and 20 Infantry divisions. -=I'm not going to bother listing attachments because OOOOO boy that's a mess=-

The MOT and LARM division will be immediately sent to Moscow - the Far East is hardly the place for LARMs and MOTs to fight! They would only be useful in the event of a defeat and defeatist thinking is strictly forbidden!

The GAR division will be sent to guard Vladivostok. The MTN will be sent to guard the outskirts of Vladivostok, and the INF divisions will be redistributed to defensible positions around Manchukuo.

STAVKA -=IE me=- assumes this theater needs 9 more divisions, and 2-3 more brigades (there is a single brigade division) to be semi-stable, and able to hold out in the event of a Japanese assault until help arrived from further West.

Air Forces will be assigned as needed - since they can fly in, in a matter of hours. Naval forces cannot be assigned as they are all concentrated 1/6th of the planet away.

Current proposals are to buttress this front with reserves of Militia and/or Garrison divisions as needed - immediately.

-=IRL Stalin kept around 25 divisions on this theater at all times even during the worst days of the war - and if you leave this theater under-manned the Japanese AI *WILL* attack you=-

Moving West.

The Tashkent HQ

This theater has been earmarked for abolition and combination with the Stalingrad HQ, which will itself be abolished and a new HQ will be created called the Caucus HQ. It is currently responsible for an area stretching from the Eastern Caspian Sea to North-Western Mongolia.

The Tashkent HQ Contains:

11 land units

1 GAR, 5 MTN, 1 CAV, and 4 infantry divisions.

The GAR will be reassigned to the Far East, the 5 MTNs will remain in this general area under Caucus HQ, and the 4 infantry divisions will also remain in theater, the Cav division will be sent to Moscow for review.

STAVKA has ruled that this theaters force distribution is adequate, but could make use of 1-4 additional divisions.

The Stalingrad HQ (darker blue)

NdxFhwN.png

This theater has been earmarked for abolition and combination with the Tashkent HQ to form the Caucus HQ

The Stalingrad HQ Contains:

18 divisions

7 GAR divisions, 1 MARM division, 3 MTN divisions, and 7 infantry divisions.

- All seven GAR divisions will be immediately sent to the Far East.
- The MARM division will be immediately sent to Moscow for review.
- All MTN divisions will be sent to Moscow for review.
- 2 Infantry divisions will be sent to Moscow for review

This theater is prepared for combat.

The Reorganization of Western Military Districts

To give a sense of the gravity of the mismanagement on the Western Front... Kyiv HQ (pink/red on map above) has 66 land divisions, and 48 HQs....

All told, the Western Military districts have 116 foot-infantry of various types (5 MTN, 5 GAR, 34 2x INF + 2 attachments, 74 3x INF). It also has 40 non-foot formations (16 LARM - no attachments, 15 ARM, 4 CAV, 5 MOT + attachments).. This will not be enough to defend the Rodina from the fascist hordes that Germany will command although a handful of units will be coming from the Eastern fronts, these too will not suffice. Land unit production will be the watch-word from here on out. Tanks and Infantry *must* be produced quickly while simultaneously trying to hold our officer ratio steady and research everything under the sun.

Our ideal is to end up with 150-160 foot-infantry formations on the Western front, and 60+ non-foot mobile formations. We may attempt to achieve this by splitting the 3x INF divisions into 2x inf divisions and building attachments. This would give us a total number of 37 new divisions - much closer to our goal.

Theater reorganization:

The Western Front will be reorganized into a single, massive Theater. It will be referred to as STAVKA.

Within Stavka there will be four "fronts" (army groups) these will consist of:

The Arkhangelsk Front - covering the North and Finland
The Leningrad Front - Covering from Leningrad to the Northern Pinsk Marshes
The Kiev Front - Covering from the Southern Pinsk Marshes to Northern Bessarabia
The Odessa Front - Covering Bessarabia and the Black Sea.

The Red Army will now consist of three theaters in total:

Stavka (all Western regions), The Trans-Caucus HQ (covering the Eastern Black Sea, Caspian Seas regions, the Caucus to North Western Mongolia), and the Far Eastern Theater which will cover from North-Western Mongolia to Vladivostok and Sakhalin.

Military Strength in The Far East, and Trans-Caucus Regions.

The Trans-Caucus HQ (combination of Stalingrad and Tashkent HQs) require 1-2 mobile divisions. Optionally 1-2 additional infantry can be placed here as well if the West is completely satisfied -=extremely unlikely=-.

maybe you should research into heavy tanks and super heavy tanks when the time comes.

Subbed!

I have an idea what Stalin wanted with those armoured cruisers in the queue: Replace the losses of the battle of Tsushima with similar ships to have an adequat far-east-fleet that can show the japs what soviet sailors can do.

I am enjoying how you are sifting through the mess...I know you are.:D Oh and you were right, looks like you will have to use INF/AC for helmetheads.;)

I know the A.I. did it but do you think adding AA to an ARM-div does help against CAS? I've done so rarely and even then it was more for flavor.

Yes Sir DIppingsuace I'm going to *try* to finagle some HARM into the army at some point - my HARM is several tech cycles behind right now, but it would still be useful against lighter enemy armor and infantry. What I may end up doing is *only* researching the gun and armor, and producing semi-immobile HARM and just using an infantry brigade to walk alongside it lol. I've put HARM upgrades behind a lot of other things in priority though - like land doctrines, air doctrines, and AA techs lol Yes, AA techs - because the AI built *so much* AA I don't have a choice :(

Lol racebear - well the AI *was* trying to follow history a bit I suspect - the USSR laid down and launched 4 heavy cruisers (they were heavies by the Washington treaty - that the USSR didn't sign) 2 for the Baltic and 2 for the Black Sea, and further 2 were produced for the Far East after the start of the war - but they certainly weren't pre-1918 tech lol. I would've let them finish just to give my navy a little more meat (a Soviet navy is pretty handy), but I just don't have the IC to be building 4 pre-1918 CA's with 0 practical in cruisers lol.

Markkur... well, there's been a debate going on in hoi3 for *ages* as to whether AA is even useful for fending off air craft - because the unit has to be attacked outright, and it's attack and defense values are a little wonky lol. But at least they have some SA and HA so... it's better than nothing? I'm just going to imagine that we did like Rommel did in North Africa IRL and use them as artillery pieces :D lol. I'm sure the Soviets used AA guns as artillery IRL as well so there's that at least lol. The sad thing is the USSR has researched SPART, but it doesn't seem to be attaching much SPART to armor :(
