I have a problem with my EU II.

everytime I click either on vnet or internetgame the game hangs.

Windows keeps running as my Mp3's are still playing.

I have Zonealarm installed I have given EU II internet rights, and I have a Cisco 677 router.

anyone have an idea as to what I need to do?

Try playing with Zonealarm disabled, just to see if it works... EU2 needs 'server rights' as well as internet access from ZoneAlarm for it to start. The other thing to do, if ZoneAlarm is the problem, when the game seems to hang, press Ctrl+Alt+Del and the game will bring up task manager, and you will see a window of ZoneAlarm asking for access. I get this every time I play MP with a new version of EU2, which is quite often these days :D

Maybe Ctrl+Esc will do it then... however you do it, you NEED to switch out so that EU2 is off the screen (but still running in the background) and you get the Zone Alarm popup. Giving programs access in Zone Alarm directly doesn't always work properly in my experience, I tried that once with the EU2.EXE to see if I could bypass the annoying popups, and it didn't make any difference. The game will appear locked up until the Zone Alarm message is replied to, and it wil not pop up in front of the EU2 screen... very annoying. It would have caused me problems too but I've played probably about 30-something multiplayer net games and I knew what to expect.
Try running it without Zone Alarm first just to make 100% sure that Zone Alarm isn't the problem.

will do.

Any ports I need to open on my router?

Don't know about ports as I don't use a router, but Artemis is absolutely right about ZoneAlarm, I have to do his exact same thing every time I download a new patch. Getting the screen to switch to the ZoneAlarm pop-up can be difficult sometimes.

Try pressing "tab" followed by "return" a few times, this often works even if you can't see the pop-up. Once you're into Vnet, then go back into ZoneAlarm and give full rights to the EU2 exe for both server and access.

I know this problem too well...

However, after installing Windows XP on sunday, I can't use Zone Alarm anymore at all! I use the exact same settings as before (with Windows ME), but I can't go online unless I shut down ZoneAlarm!

I find it very annoying that I must use the built in firewall in XP, since I know nothing about it and find it's possibilities very limited.

Does anyone else know of this problem, and maybe how to fix it?

are you absolutely sure that you have not blocked all access or given rights to the programs you use to access the internet?

I run XP with ZoneAlarm, don't have any problems apart from the one mentioned above. I do remember having to uncheck one of the network settings (forget which one) that was blocking off assess, until I did that MP never worked, but that was nothing to do with ZoneAlarm.

Yes, I'm sure. If only it was that simple... maybe it is because I did not run a fresh install of Windows XP, but merely chose to upgrade the previous installed Windows to WinXP?

at least I can join Vnet now....:)

All I need now is some time to play and learn...;)
