I'm getting really sick of all those LAN crashes!
It's not fun to pay around 350 crowns for a game that only runs for about 1hour in MP.
Anyone have any tips or do I have to wait for the next patch (that probably won't fix the problem since all my other paradox games has the same problem)?

Strange. I don't have much problems in MP. Altough i have yet to play a LAN MP. Since none of my friends are smart enough to understand the Paradox kind of games. :D Altough i can only speak of my experience of EUII MP and not HoI or Victoria. EUII is generaly very stable.

But if all other Paradox games crash on your computer then you might consider upgrading your system or software.

I have a AMD 2400+ with 512mb RAM, shouldn't that be enough?
It never crashes for the host, only for the two other computers.
It's starting to annoy us now! :p
We tried EUII to and we had the same problem with that.

Let's move you to the MP forum and see if the experts there can help.

i've had bad experiences with lag too. I think hard drive quality has alot to do with it. Often though, my files get corrupted, especially saves after someone drops.

how far have you gone? it seems once you get out of the 1830's things start to go pretty good.

We've played until about 1890 or so..
Before 1840 we got a ctd about every 20 minutes, after 1840 we got a ctd/computer restarting without any reason about every hour
it makes the game almost unplayable wich is really sad thus is such a great game =)

Seems we'll have to wait for at least 1.04.

Vicky was (still is?) unstable in MP LAN, CTDs for clients (during army reinforcement for instance), armies with negative stats, overstaffed factories, factories to which you couldn't assign anybody, all this requiring constant reloads (in 1.02 anyway, I haven't tried playing Vicky ever since, as these bug reports went unnoticed).

HOI and EU2 are fine in MP LAN.

Me and my brother played 1 LAN game with Vicky 1.03 but had to quit because of crashes. Everytime anyone annexed a country the game crashed. Since I as Prussia tried for the Conervative Empire and had to annex the democratic German states crashes were frequent until after that event. After this the game was quite CTD-free.

Do as we do, play HoI-LAN, until the next patch.

what is the setup of your LAN?

dou you use dhcp or set the tcp/ip adresses manually.

Does any of you have a firewall running in the background?

How about other programs that accesses the LAN?

All the above are a must........I recommend shutting down your firewall on your router if you are using one. Shut down software firewall zone-alarm or Norton's is always a must for me.

However, I have also noted a decrease in stability in my LAN group games with 1.03 VICKY. It appears in my opinion to be in the diplomacy screen. I have posted it to our beta group MP topics and Paradox I'm sure will fix it pronto......assuming there is a problem and we just aren't screwing things up :)

All my paradox games gets CTD or either the computer restarts

No way man..........EU1, EU2, HOI all work excellent on my LAN and have for the last 2 years. Its what makes me play these games. Some sessions go for 8-15 hours without a crash. Check your settings, check with a knowledgeable person or read the MP newbie sections carefully. I use to complain at lot but 99/100 its something YOU have made a mistake on in the setup.Paradox always gets MP down it just take time and for us to try to bring it to their attention. Just be patient my friend.

Vicky crashes in MP games, it's been reported by quite a few people.

With 1.03b, I begin to notice other problems too. I think they have more synchronization problems with 1.03b. Either that, or network between east coast USA (host), eastern canada, Switzerland, and westcoast USA are a lot worse than a few months ago....

It's especially worse for me (west coast USA) and Switzerland players. We see more weird stuff than the eastern Canadian player...of course, the host has no problems, except annex CTD problem :(

Switzerland and I both experienced lumber stockpile mysteriously wiped out for no reason. I cannot even build railroad eventhough I have cash, and all the required resources. This is not just a simple pause then build issue anymore. This is even after numerous attempts at pause for 1 minute or more, try to build, fail, and give up...

Sometimes rehost the game will help, but then, Switzerland player and I discovered our lumber stockpile disappeared :(

We also see weird industrial score problem, Nausau, Peru were #1 in industrial power. This was witness by USA west coast player, Switzerland, and east Canada player. I saw Japan as #1 industrial power and I believe Switzerland player too, but not the other 2 east coasters...

I use dhcp and I'm not running a firewall in the background.
I don't have any other programs that accesses the LAN either.

Just about the situation for me too. Got no problems with other Paradox games.
