OK, so I am vain, and the first thing I did when I got the game was load it up, giggle with joy, and then root through the files and try to create myself as a character, complete with my own dynasty (which is super easy to do, except for the dna bit thus far), and started myself as the Count of Lancaster, vassal of the Duke of Norfolk (after the assassination-by-Notepad of the previous count)(I'm going to spend all of tonight delving into the mysteries of the CK Genetic Code so I can make myself look reasonable).
I point this out because there are a couple of issues related to my dynasty that I would like to address: one is a bug, and the other is kinda weird.
First, the bug: two of my (many) bastard sons, Alan and John, died but refused to disappear. Alan I granted the duchy of Courland (and the two provinces that make up this duchy), but he was ill, and he died, and I inherited the provinces back again cause he had no sons. Then he showed up at my court as a greyed-out dead guy, but wouldn't disappear. John was then given the cursed duchy and its two provinces, and of course he dies heirless so I end up re-inheriting Courland from yet another of my pretty-wench-induced accidents, and lo and behold, the ghost of John comes to hang out with his old man and ghostly brother.
Then, when I was rampaging through spain, my bastard ghost son John was commanding a besieging army and he claimed a province as his own... and then just sat there, being the Count, and being quite dead... so I waited to inherit from him, but it didn't happen. I finally asked for the title back, and he gave it back and went back to being a ghost in my court. So yes, that is the bug: dead people not being removed from the game.
The other question I have is: I created my dynasty ('Garak') and my character ('Elim') and gave myself some stats and some traits (high intrigue plus illusive shadow = respectable cardassian tailor), and took english catholic as my culture and religion. After a few years I kept getting a whole bunch of John Garaks and Anselm Garaks and George Garaks joining my court and always being arund 36 years old, and having no traits but always having the same stats as my character's base stats (which, I admit, were somewhat inflated). And I mean a ridiculous amount of them, I never had less than five Garaks not related to me in my court at any given time. Is it supposed to be that way, or did I maybe do something wrong when putting my dynasty in the dynasty file?
