Ive just downloaded the GIP mod and, although I really like it, it took me about three minutes to realise that many of the unit pictures dont match the actual units at all. The Hurricane is shown as a Spitfire, The Spitfire as a Hurricane, The Czech Aero 135 is shown as a biplane etc etc and these are only the ones I spotted very quickly. Am I missing somthing here? Its a real shame because the whole package is so well presented that its with a heavy heart that I have to remove all these colour pictures from my game. But I cant possibly play the game without accurate units being shown it would do my head in after a while!

Just thought I would mention it in case anyone else has downloaded it and is unaware that the units are completely wrong in many instances.

I assume that they have been changed for some reason by the creator but as I am using several other mods that dont change the order of the units it makes it impossible to continue to use this one without my going through each one checking its validity which would obviously be far too time consuming for me - great shame!!

very simple answer, you say spit showing up for huri, and huri showing up for spit, switch the numbers of the pics around in the gfx folder, and you can do that for all of them. too me, thats a really minor thing, to give up all those coloured pics, because of a few mix ups...

I have to say that there are other ways of telling that. GIP is made by people that use their free time to improve the game, we are spending a lot of time in finding and editting pictures and all for free. If you have found pictures that don't match with the unit you can send a mail, a private message or post it in the GIP forum, but I think this is the worst way, your post is ofensive and as a GIP member I feel ofended by your words.

You feel offended by his words? Suck it up, it's called criticism, and at the very least you can use that information to fix a part of your mod.

is that critisism? I would call it bad manners.....but then we are all different arent we?...

I like and accept criticism in order to improve, but one thing is criticism and other is call GIP a "great shame"

I concur. It's very easy to carp when you have done nothing for community yourself. And if you did, you'd know that finding and processing images (especially colour) is quite a demanding work, no wonder it's possible to make occasional errors. And a nice way to tell this is via email, or at least in more friendly tone.

The neat thing about the internet is it's extremely likely that you'll misinterpret his tone, and you just may have taken it a lot worse than he meant.

Your presumptions of the OPs involvement within the 'community' are unnecessary and quite condescending.

His criticism, if accurate, which it appears to be is apt. Nice how you completely gloss over him complimenting the entire package (his words) and expressing sadness at having to delete parts, while offering a critique of a few problematic areas within the Mod itself. He did not declare the GIP a great shame, he called his decision that he had to delete the images a great shame.

If anything I'd say his only disservice was not posting that exact post in the GIP forum/thread as would have been appropriate so that it gets noticed by the right people who can and will fix it.

As was pointed out it is very easy to read a post and assume a worse tone than was intended.

My assumption about OPs 'involvement' is just a logical way to explain his obvious unfamiliarity with the modding process. It certainly is not condescending.

To my understanding, 'many instances' is not exactly 'a few problematic areas'.

It certainly was not his intention to help fix the problem, it was rather to avert fellow gamers from using it at all. In his own words:

It is further corroborated by his patent 'whine and run' tactics of not paying any attention to the thread he started.

The only logical deduction from that is that OP should try to be more clear next time, since there seems to be quite a few people who misunderstood (or so you say) him. Maybe read about netiquette or something.
I don't see any point in further discussion, really.

It is not logical, at no point does he mention anything that suggests he is familiar or unfamiliar with the modding process. I would take your comment as condescending.

Not everyone can be on the internet every day, so just because he did not reply straight away does not mean he is not paying attention. Also, would you really comment again after the what some have written?

I don't see why so many take this as offensive when he writes "I really like it" and "Its a real shame because the whole package is so well presented that its with a heavy heart that I have to remove all these colour pictures from my game." (i.e. he thinks its done well but its not what he was personally looking for)

Anyway, to NATS, basically remember in the future to be VERY careful with how you write any critisism in the future as people will misunderstand no matter what. Also, if you post up the exact problems (which models with which pics) it will help the modders and others correct problems you have spotted as others may not have noticed the error before.
