I don't think Paradox cares what you think, but rather what the remainder of the Western hemisphere thinks. Even if they could make a workable model for a game, and even if they did publish it, the media reception would devastate the company. A large portion of the market (especially in the US) would turn their backs to Paradox. Also there's the risk that it would be censored in certain countries on the pretence that it "glorifies", "distorts" or "promotes" terrorism. PI knows that touchy subjects need a few decades to soften up.

Huh? This is exactly why there's terrorism in the Middle East. If the West hadn't colonized the area, fractured it into arbitrary borders, capitalized on its resources and of the people living there, Muslims might not have detested the West as much as they do. And you want to solve this problem the way that's been tried out since WW2, and which in turn has spawned ever more insurgents and terrorists. I guess we should be grateful that you don't run the world in real life.

Who cares what Paradox thinks about my thought? I'm just spreading my opinion here man and trying to have a discussion, no need to get that offensive. Or did you actually think that Paradox makes these kind of decisions based on what people like us say on the forums?

And with total reconstruction I meant large Western investments with negative returns in things as infrastructure, education, healthcare etc., ending the protection of Western markets, providing expertise and other aid to new democracies and regions in conflict. Restructuring as many of our own faults as we can. Wich is as I repeat not very fun in gaming perspective and above all not possible in the current situation.

Oh, and I beg to differ that that's the way we tried to solve the problem since WW2. Trying to keep neighbouring states calm and quiet differs from actually trying to solve the problems that causes the unrest.

I didn't get "offensive" before your incoherent rant that had nothing to do with Paradox or its games. As to your first comment, I and many others would be indifferent to a war on terrorism game, but the majority of the market would have an issue with it.

Terrorism has gained notably after the Iraq invasion, the fall of the Libyan government, and the civil war in Syria. All three states were strong enough to keep reactionary insurgents at bay, and all of them were challenged by factions sponsored, trained and equipped by the West. If the West had not destroyed the Iraqi stability and support faltering insurgencies in Libya and Syria, the Middle East situation might not have been so bleak. In effect, by destabilizing the autocratic governments, the subsequent governments have been completely incompetent (and perhaps unwilling) to handle insurgencies.

Also, PI would get in a lot of trouble if you were allowed to play as a terrorist organization like al Qaida or IS, so you would only be able to play as countries which would be boring in the long run.
Paradix hasn't shied away from letting you play as the Nazis in HOI, but then again they do refrain from talking bout the holocaust soo...

A game centered exclusively on fighting/leading terrorism is too controversial IMHO and could not be made.

BUT, nothing would prevent a modern day grand strategy game (starting at the Fall of the Berlin Wall for example), where obviously, dealing with terrorism would be a feature, among others.
And of course, some major bookmarks of the playable timeline would be closely linked to it (like 9/11 and the Arab Spring).
