"Go to first new post" doesn't seem to be working too well.

When using the "go to first new post" button it often doesn't seem to register that I've read various posts already and will often keep taking me to the same post each time I click the button. It generally seems to work it out eventually (although sometimes only after hours or even a day or two), and at other times it seems to work exactly as you would expect and get things right as soon as I refresh.

I've not done something stupid like forgotten to log in, and I'm fairly sure I'm doing everything sensibly for instance giving things plenty of time to load, and refreshing the main sub-forum page and whatnot.

Is this a known problem? Is there some trick to it? Am I doing something hopelessly moronic? Am I doomed to suffer this terrible fate for all eternity?

P.S. I hope I've posted this in the right place, this seemed to be the most suitable section, if not I do apologise and could someone please direct me to the appropriate place? I couldn't see a technical help area except for specific games.

Have you tried this with other vBulleting forums? Does it work there?
We have not customized this function anything, so I'm not sure what can be done about it.

I have this problem too, and it drives me crazy. Never ever happens on civfanatics, sometimes happens on althistory.

upgrading the forum to 3.8.4 should do the trick
