Looks like a good start.

Always in for an interesting UK AAR, it looks good.
I noticed you haven't invested much in land doctrines. I guess that is going to be a focus soon since they auto update?

Turkey with the Allies? Thought they'd stay neutral unless DoW'ed. Some countries are just hardwired to not join anybody regardless of leanings and whatever not.

He mentioned tag-switching to get them in. Sometimes you have to force the game to do what you want.

I like your style, it's very clean and tidy and you add many screenshots, which is a perfect combination for a gameplay AAR. Moreover, I love the fact you use the "no gamey strategies" house rule. You don't min-max so much and your build orders, research priorities and force distribution seems more realistic than in most HOI3 games, which is actually quite immersive as well IMO. As a reader, I get the feeling that you are playing as the UK and have to protect the whole Empire, just like IRL.

Keep the updates coming.

Yeah, but this opens an whole new can of problems for the game. With Turkey in the Allied camp, the USSR will be very much pissed off, as a) Turkey has a direct border with them and b) USSR had ambitions vis a vis Turkey and the Caucasus in general. I don't know how you could possibly make that felt in this game now.

Actually, getting Turkey into the Allies may complicate the strategic situation of the Allies, because if the Balkans are conquered by the Axis, Germany and co. won't ignore Turkey. Additional Soviet divs stationed on the Turkish-Soviet border means fewer divs on the German-Soviet border as well. Moreover, Turkey is yet another front for the UK to worry about.

Agree. Turkey is definitely a double edged sword as a member of the allies.

Only if it is being defended properly instead of being a poisoned fruit for either the Axis or the Communists to swallow. Defending Turkey against the Axis is not too hard when you give up the European part of it.Defending on the shores of the Dardanelles is quite easy and with the RN around it should be impossible for the Axis to mount an amphibious operation. Moreover, the AI might be enticed to launch repeated pointless assaults across the straights which will cost them lots of MP just because of the stupidity of the AI.

Welcome everyone! ;)

As I mentioned in the beginning I try to play the game as if its real and not approach it by using what i know works best in the game. For example static AA is pretty much useless in HOI3, but I will build some anyway, as in RL. The UK tried to turn Turkey, like they did many nations. The reality here is two fold, the game often allows us as in my case with Turkey to be more successful, and faster than in RL. I didn't realize that when PI reduced the restrictions against Turkey (and National Spain), it was only from the Axis side, hence I was forced to tag switch and join the Allies. I considered to keep using influence and keep them in my corner throughout the game, but considered it more likely the Allies would have brought them in if possible. Yes it opens up a whole can of worms, but makes it interesting no?

And so it begins. Some good early victories against the Kriegsmarine's surface fleet. Hopefully you can deal with their U-boats soon as well, preferably before Italy joins the war.
How many forces will you devote to the defence of France?

Thats undecided, depends upon how things play out. Right now a small force of 5 INFx3. Well see how my queue clears up, I am expending alot of IC on Lend lease (35)...

Im going to end this AAR here. I had a crash and a corrupted save file and unfortunately (stupid me) hadn't been making multiple saves as I was caught up between the playing and the writing. It was a mistake to try and write it while playing, next time I'll play the game out fully, then write it. Sorry gang. I tried to do some interesting stuff...

Sad to see, but it may have been a blessing for the piss poor Italian AI to have it's suffering ended that early.

btw, why did you bring Turkey and Romania to the Allies? There was really no hope at all for them to be saved by you?

I do you hope you do this again. I've discovered I'm a fan of AARs and like the different formats used. This presentation was very good. Made me think of a hard-hitting news-flash, like movietone news that people saw in theaters.<S>

Thank you. I have had some issues recently...game crashed a few times, internet crashed, and my pc has been sluggish. Cant do much about my provider, looking to get a new PC hopefully at the end of the year. It was my mistake for not having multiple saves, i was playing too fast. Also its better to play it all out first then do the AAR, both my mistakes...

I didnt expect them to get there that quickly TBH....and then it was a matter of spending the resources to simply keep them in the corner, or invite them in. The better game move would have been the former, I believe realistically they would have been invited in so I did so. But thats debatable.
