Good Starting Country for CORE

I like it, ill say that now. Its a good advancement on HoI2: DD, it has a much more indepth feel to it but heres my problem with it.

You destroyed Canada, i dont seem to remember having half as much problem getting off the ground as Canada in HoI2: DD.

So can anyone recommend a good country to get the feel for the Core mod, preferably that isnt someone like Germany or UK or France or Russia or USA.

Thats why i enjoyed Canada, i was still a major power so to speak but i didnt have to worry about mass micro managment of all my provinces (I tried Italy but still had that trouble as them because i got involved in the war (Its harder to invade Canada than Italy).

Play as Japan or Nationalist China or Republican Spain.

These are good choices because (a) you don't have to sit around for three years waiting for something to happen; (b) you are still in the middle of the action; and (c) even a historical game is fun.

Poland, perhaps.. or (if you feel like a Challenge!) Czechoslovakia. The Netherlands offers a good start, too, I'd say - good economic position, and access to pretty much all aspects of the game.

By the way, how do you feel we have "destroyed" Canada ?

Italy is good. You just have to be prepared for the war. To do this you must do 3 things.

1.Make Ethiopia a pupet for all their soldiers, giving them Somalia&Eritrea.
2.Take over Spain. Lets you get Gibralatar quickly.
3.Position transports in the Suez to take the Suez canal.

And voila Mediterranean domination.

When I first played HOI2 DD it was with CORE and I preferred to play Turkey, as a member of the Axis. Managed to conquer all Middle-eastern territory reaching from Suez to Persia, with Italy taking Egypt proper, and also got control over the Russian Caucasus, after a bit of a struggle.

Im not quite sure, i just seem to have trouble with canada on core mod, that i didnt have with HOI2D. Maybe its just a time thing, still i think im going to give them another go.

Australia. Britain will happily give you all the blueprints you'll ever need. Buy supplies from the United States, and you can build up a good army/navy/airforce for what is a minor country before war breaks out (if it does ;0)
