It happened at the very end of this video:

basically I get an error message talking about Wattman, and the game freezes. Or at least the visuals freeze. I can still hear the results of my clicking beneath the still image.

It does not require a full PC restart, just a game restart

I'm having the same problem on a RTX2080 using a 144Hz-Monitor. The game visuals are freezing randomly, sometimes running stable for some hours, sometimes crashing right after loading a savegame. While freezing, the music is still playing and the GUI is still making it's "feedback-noises".

Interestingly, the freezing can (in my case) be provoked by rapidly zooming in and out of the map, leading to changing GPU-Clocks.

So I guess I:R is just a little touchy with the resulting changing GPU-Power States.

Setting a frame limiter to 60FPS completely solved the issue for me.

GPU crashed again, this time with the 1.2 beta patch.

How can I limit the FPS?

use Frame Rate Target Control in the Radeon Settings application.

that being said, I have that setting turned on, limiting my RX 480 to 60 FPS and I’m still getting the same crashes after a few hours that were reported in the OP.

If it crashes after a few hours, I would suspect a memory leak in the game.
