I don't give memory advice over the internet.

Other than to say 512 is the minimum you want to run if useing XP.

Ask the salesperson at the store what kind you need, that way if it does not work, it is their fault and you can exchange it for some that does. ;)

The resolution does affect speed but that is more to do with your Video card and it's memory and capabilities.

Well faster everything is helpful, but I can tell you with your system the memory will be the biggest help. The 800mhz should be okay.

Well as the Min specs are around 450 and recommended at 800. That was the basis of me saying it would be okay. ;)

Personally I would not run with only 256, Although if money is really tight why not get a 256 mb that would give you 384 meg. You just have to make sure the stuff you buy can still be used with the stuff you still have. Not a problem if you just get a new 512 chip, because you can toss that other 128 you currently have.

As I said earlier I don't give specific memory advice over the internet.

Talk to your retailer, that way if things don't work out according to plan it is thier fault and they must make it right. They are not going to listen to your complaints if you tell them , "some guy" on the internet said it would work. ;)

When I said I don't give memory advice I kind of meant no one should give memory advice. ;)

Let him talk with the retailer.

When I said no one should give memory advice I meant no one will give memory advice.

Best buy should be fine they have a good return and exchange policy.

If you still have trouble after the upgrade come back and see me.

Well that is always a good policy. :)

There are a lot of factors that can influence speed.

I would say memory is your big problem.
I would say 512 is minimum for running XP.

I don't tell people what specific type of memory to buy or the setting for that memory, Memory is very sensitive and you have a better time with sales people to sort the problem out if it is thier advice you are following.

That has no bearing here, I simply say that more memory would be a big help to you. 256 meg is the absolute minimum that I would run with XP. Really the minimum now a day is 512meg. You do not even have the bare minimum. Believe me this may not be the full cause of your HOI2 slow down, nothing in life is certain but you will notice a difference in all your apps if you go to 512 meg. It is prob. the cheapest way to keep your system viable for longer.

Did you get a whole new system or just a new MB with ram?
