Greetings to all. I would like to ask a few graphical questions:

- how does one change the background of events?
- how does one change the decision backgrounds?
- is there no way to use gif as event picture and not bmp?
- how can one have lesser government positions? (I know it is possible, since Hyborian mod did it.)
- is there a way to have larger minister and leader pictures?
- is there a way to have a different minister pic in a different scenario for one person?

Alright, this is something I actually know about, so in order:

- No, it has to be .bmp
- Yeah, I know what you're talking about. I've seen @Asalto do it in an AAR too, that's an don't know too
- No, it has to be 36x50, preferably 5.32 KB (the absolute maximum size), but I've seen 2.81 KB too.
- Yeah, the minister pic is connected to the minister .csv file syntax. For example, from a project I've been working on for a while:

35011;Head of State;Francisco Franco Bahamonde;1933;1964;PA;Stern Imperialist;High;L3426;X
35181;Chief of Army;Francisco Franco Bahamonde;1933;1964;PA;Decisive Battle Doctrine;Very High;L3426_B;X

Here, I have two different pics for El Caudillo as the HOS/HOG or the Chief of Army

The event backgrounds are in ...gfx/interface with names containing 'paper'.
edit: note that the event header style now influences which directory to use or if large pictures are displayed
event commands.txt line 427: style = 0/1/2 # 0 = uses vanilla event screens 1 = allow bigger pictures to be used 2 = uses the new newspaper style event screens

same directory named map_circle.bmp
All game graphics are going to be in gfx. It is not difficult to search through the images with an image viewer or file manager.

I would like to ask some more help. I replaced the event background picture in correct format and size in the proper folder with a different picture, but it just doesn't work. I tried replacing all the various sizes and I tried replacing only one. Neither of those worked. Any ideas?
If someone replaces the event background, what should be important to watch?
 
How doesn't it work? Make sure you are accessing the correct image in game first. Open the original image file with your graphics editor and edit it within that palette if possible. The event backgrounds should be simple because they use a broad 256 color palette.

2.87 KB is the correct size you should be after, if you want the correct highlighting effect when you hover over a changeable minister in your cabinet.
