Hi there.

I'm the Roman Emperor, I'm Hellenic. On the other side of the Danube rules the king of Hungary and Wallachia, who, due to some quirk in history, is also Hellenic. However, due to some other quirk in history he is also the vassal of the Mongol Khagan, who is Apostolistic.

Now, I can get a Great Holy War for Hungary, and presumably win it. But what will happen? As far as I remember, if the contested crown already exists and is held by a ruler of the victorious religion, that ruler gets all the land, but how would that work out in this case?

In this case, since the King of Hungary is a vassal of the GHW's target, the CB will skip him even though he's the same religion, and hand the Kingdom of Hungary title (and all the seized land) to whoever was the biggest participant in your GHW.
