In the steam description of the coming Asia DLC it mentions great projects as a use for the Chinese treasury.

This is my copium that we are getting a new build-your-own-wonder system from CK2 and Imperator

How likely do you guys thank this is? What things would you like to see for a potential new monument system? If its not that, what do you think it refers to? (I hope not just something like a temp modifier for a province/kingdom etc.)

My hope would be that the larger feature is part of the free patch and available to all - it would be devastating if it was China only.

There obviously is a step between "free patch" and "China only", which I think it'll fall in: paid content, but available to everyone under some conditions. Like admin gov.

Yes that is true - paid but available to all would not be a terrible medium.

I would be a little sad as it means less integration with other systems, and even sadder if its restricted too much, i want ro be able to do great works as a feudal king!

My impression is that it'll be one of those public work projects that Chinese dynasties would do to make sure the country is not being destroyed by floods or famine. Like building dikes, repairing great walls, irrigation projects, land reclamation, that sort of stuff. Rather than: we build giant pagoda look how great we are.

Ahh interesting, i know very little about Chinese history or culture so this insight is welcome.

I am curios now what mechanical shape this will take in gameplay.

With it being tied to the treasury I think the dichotomy of good/bad ruler could be fun with China. For instance right now if you are "good" or "bad" ruler it really doesn't have much impact on your realm, but maybe if you are a party emperor and send all your income on hedonism rather than fixing the dams you will see all your peasants die

I would expect an expanded option for building historical and non-historical monuments, where building a non-historical monument would be satisfying, and the elements that make up the monument would be unique. It would also be great if there was an option to rebuild existing monuments, for example, we could rebuild a great mosque into a great cathedral and so on. The only limit is your imagination, gentlemen from Paradox. :)

Yes being able to convert religiously significant great works is fun for role-playing reasons.

Also being able to build religous monuments for our custom religions

But can I add spikes and a torture chamber to my grand canal for extra dread?
I don't think so, but maybe you can choose to destroy the Yellow River embankment at the junction of your Grand Canal and Yellow River, causing the Yellow River to change course, killing millions of people, and destroying your dynasty LOL

Went and found the specific passage so people do not have to search:

Edit: Notice the italics, which to me indicate it is some kind of at least notable feature

I hope it’s basically a wonder system. Hell give it a full screen like the tournament barony screen lol. I’ll do a mini stronghold mini game during my ck3 campaign lol

Obviously not realistic and not probably not even fun to shove into a game like CK3 TBH but my city building heart wants to say yes haha

Honestly I want stupid bullshit like once republics get added they could use the royal court 3D scene system for stuff like senate debates

That actually sounds like it could be an appropriate use (I have no idea about coding or game design disclaimer)

I wonder if we will see many new dynamic sets/scenes with Asia beyond unique throne rooms. could be interesting in whatever this "great project" system is.

Confirmed in latest chapter Q and A that great projects will be more like colmunal projects for disasters and stuff then great buildings.

Disappointing - hopefully it will be a fun system in its own rate at least

It looks like this will be a way to incorporate corvee labor for public works into the game, which is a big feature of the premodern state that has been absent from the game until now. Maybe it can make things like popular opinion more relevant too: you as a local administrator want to push your people so you get credit for contributing the most to the great project, but if you push too hard and are responsible for a peasant revolt you'll be in danger of serious career harm.
