Ground Defense Planning currently has the following description:
Why the bonus to Naval Capacity, though?
It seems to me that this small part of the game could be more thematically streamlined if:
It just feels weird that a third of the Soldier production of Naval Capacity comes from a technology that is supposedly about ground defenses...
The technology also has these two effects:There are many alien empires who would gladly seize our worlds for themselves. We must be prepared for them, should the worst come to pass.
- +33% Defense Army Damage
- +2 Naval Capacity from Soldier jobs
Why the bonus to Naval Capacity, though?
- It does not seem to fit the technology name and description.
- It marks a relatively huge increase in the Naval Capacity output of Soldier jobs, from 4 to 6.
- It is a tier 1 technology, meaning that the jump from 4 to 6 happens very early in the game. For most of the game, except for a narrow slice in the beginning, Soldier jobs will produce 6 rather than 4 Naval Capacity.
- The next technology in the planetary defense chain, Global Defense Grid, does not do anything with Naval Capacity.
It seems to me that this small part of the game could be more thematically streamlined if:
- Soldiers normally produced 6 Naval Capacity and 2 Planetary Defense Armies, instead of 4 Naval Capacity and 3 Planetary Defense Armies, and
- Ground Defense Planning added +1 Planetary Defense Army, instead of +2 Naval Capacity.
It just feels weird that a third of the Soldier production of Naval Capacity comes from a technology that is supposedly about ground defenses...
