I just installed 1.06 and now the H of I Editor no longer opens (whereas it did under 1.05 w/tweak--in 16-bit color, of course). It says that there is a "Error: (unknown land division)...". If I choose to "ignore" this, more unknown land division errors keep coming. When I finally abort, I get a Runtime Error message.

Do I need to have a special 1.06 patch just for the editor? If so, has one come out yet?

Please get me a hand here, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

From what I've heard, the editor doesn't work with 1.06. You'll need to have a seperate install of HOI to run the editor.

Yep, the editor is FUBAR in 1.06, you'll have to go back to 1.05 to make it work.

Just install the game from CD once.

make a copy of that folder (or two copies if you have the space on hard disk)

Then install the 1.05c and 1.06 patches in either of the copied folders respectively and you will be able to have both on your machine. (if you have the space, keep the original installation folder at 1.03 or whatever version is on the CD so that when another patch comes out you can copy the original folder and install the new patch into that one, so as keeping you ongoing games intact!).

You don't actually need to keep a full install of 1.05, you just need to grab the editor.exe file from it and put it in your 1.06 folder.

I don't think there have been any changes in the things the editor handles (like the "new" parameters in the unit files that cause the v0.98+ editor included in 1.06 to give errors when starting). There have been new ai variables exposed and new event commands and triggers but those files are not used by the editor AFAIK.
EDIT: My mistake; looks like it does parse the event files for some reason when it loads a scenario. You'd need to temporarily make a blank events.txt file or remove the 'include = "db\events.txt"' line from the scenario before loading it then edit the event files into the output file manually if you actually wanted to be able to play it. Otherwise you have to 'ignore' dozens of error messages about the event files' new commands and triggers. Of course you don't need to edit the output if you are only using the editor to generate lists of provinces and techs to add to a scenario file manually.

Well, for me it works fine with 1.06 but the dozens of errors i have to ignore is kinda disturbing.
Try making a blank events.txt file or at least one that doesn't point to any of the files in the events\ai folder as I said in my edit above.

It does work in 1.06b sort of... Alot of errors come up but if you click ignore to all of them then it should work. The only thing that stuffs up in it still is trying to add military units. Other than that it should work fine. It does for me anyway ;) . '

Are you using the 1.05 editor or the 1.06 editor? The 1.05 one would be better; the 1.06 one is actually 0.98 plus a patch so it doesn't recognize some unit parameters that were added around 1.03b or 1.04.
