Please Devs ! Make it an option to allow Habitats....i never finish games because of the massive Habitat-outpost spam ! I know my I9 / 3090ti isnt a very strong setup these days...but you make all sorts of no-good eyecandy....PLEASE make it an option !

Trust me when I say that I tried disabling habitats via mods and saw effectively no improvement at all.

Personally I feel like it's actually fleets and especially combat that causes the biggest issues, which late-game fleets tend to scale to absurd numbers. I don't really know how Stellaris works on the back end graphically, but I think it tried to render everything in the game to properly simulate combat, regardless if it's onscreen or not. This isn't new though, this has been an issue for a very long time.

There's also apparently some interesting problems with various Operating Systems, as people are getting performance issues the developer's computers aren't getting, so they put out a request for save files and your operating system. Check out that thread, it's one of the pinned ones. You might be unfortunately one of them.

Even without rendering the results, the simulation itself is going to get pretty crunchy, especially if there are lots of carriers and guided weapon boats in play.

Performance is still completely undone since the last update, you can't convincingly point at habitats right now and say those are the problem.

Performance is not bad because of habitats. I don't know how else to tell people. It's not becuase of habitats. The ai has also been restricted from spamming them. So I still don't get this weird hate towards ai building habitats. It's always a non factor in my game.

Having a fleet of 1000 nanite swarmers in combat probably uses a lot more processing power than 100 habitats growing pops and assigning jobs?
