I was having problems with HOI2 multiplayer, namely that during pauses of the game players would often lose connection. I had no such trouble over lan.

So when I was using a virtual lan program for system shock 2 over the internet, I figured it might work for hearts of iron 2 as well. :p Hamachi and works by setting up a virtual lan connection over the internet. It is very easy to setup.

It fixed my pause issue and also, doesn't need you to open up any ports like you do for normal internet HOI2 play.

So it was quite easy to start a HOI2 game on a win2k computer over ICS from another win2k computer, over the net to a winxp computer behind a wireless router. Like, zero issues from install. Obviously if you have it working already, great - but if you have trouble with firewalls and routers (or just don't want to have to fiddle with them) this software seems to be untouchable. So give it a try cos it rocked for me. :O

Great idea. Any idea if it works with HOI 1 ???

It should work with any game that works over LAN/internet. Nice thing about this is you can play games designed to only work over LAN (older ones mostly) over the internet with this. ;)

Gr8 software, it is extremly handy. Thx for the tip. Hamachi have solved some problems I've been wrestling around with for several years :)
