So, amid all these more or less minor bugs and errors and what-not, are you enjoying the mod? Any aspect that is better than the others? Any that is worse? Considering that it is a first release and a beta, has it lived up to your expectations? If not, why?

(this is not a bug reporting thread)

Let me know what you think - and thanks for the kinds words all over the place!

The new Naval system is great. Capital ships are now very valuable, as you can't replace them within a month - even a destroyer takes close to a year to build. I was slightly suprised about the building times of armored divisions though, its actually shorter then the building time of an infantry division (should really be the other way around).

I also like the new industry balance, I conquered poland with less then 20 divisions. As germany, you can no longer have a strong navy, a strong army and a strong airforce, at least one part has to suffer (its the airforce for me, can't live without my ships). All in all, CORE has meet my high (some may say unreasonable high) expectations.

Granted I haven't gotten a chance to play it all that much, but it has a great feel to it. I haven't gotten a chance to truley investigate all the tech options and haven't gotten to the war yet, but I am certainly enjoying the mod so far. A few bugs, but I know they will be ironed out

It will grow!!!

At the moment I'm struggling with the new tech-tree but as sone I get a hang on it I think this will be a really great mod!

I'm playing as the US and have gotten up to Feb. '39. I obviously haven't gotten into any combat yet, so can't comment on that. So far the biggest obvious change from vanilla, as far as I'm concerned, is the new tech trees. So far I really like the new CORE tech trees. The only (very minor) glitch that I've seen so far is a message about not finding a string when one of the US events fired. The one thing about CORE for HOI1 that got to me was the long tech development times (I researched and built like crazy (as the US), but didn't get B29's or P51D's until 1947) -- so we'll see how CORE2 turns out in that respect -- so far so good, but I have a long way to go yet to get to 1947. Anyway, I'm very happy with CORE2 so far and would like to thank the CORE team very much for the time and effort they've spent on this mod.

I'm sure we will. One of the things I liked about HOI 1 was the diversity and flexibility of the tech trees. I'm glad CORE brought that to HOI2, it just takes some getting used to since we've all grown use to the simplified HOI2 ones

To be honest in first moment I got CORE2 in my hands I hated it! Why? Because instead of playing, I have to revorked some files for Polish version. After four hours of cutting, copying, pasteing, posting on polish forum, I've already started to play. It is still first of January 1936 but I'm all ready to play hoping not to find any major bug.

Translation work is post-poned at least till tomorrow midday. I've to get all the pleasure that CORE gives.

And here comes first serious questions:
When we will get v 0.2?
When graphic pack will be add? (I've been playing with Scytthworks and with GIP and now looking at those icons makes me fill weird).

But what I can say? Waiting so long was worth of it. Really, really thank you for that awesome job!

I like the mod a lot. With a few fixes here and there it will be splendid.

Unfortunately I feel I have to stop my Germany game now since the Munich-treaty events has gone bad. But you are aware of that.

Think I'll start up with a new country and help out with the bug reporting.

In Germany we have a saying:
"Was der Bauer nicht kennt, das frisst er nicht"
(What the peasant doesn't know, he doesn't eat)

I am this guy. It always takes me quite a long time to get used to something new. Same with the old aquaintance Core. In HoI1 it took me half a year to even consider downloading Core, add another couple of months until I loved it.

Same with Core2, played it for two hours (while looking forward to it for months).
So far, not excited at all. I guarantee you though, within three months I will loooooove Core2 ;)

I played as Germany until feb 1937. I have tried all the major mods of the forum and I think that the graphics is ok, for the changed tech trees I think they are ok but I also think that you have to change all the tech trees, first the land doctrine, it is so poor in the original version!!!
Very very good the ships but I hoped some changes in aircraft graphics.

It's great. Amazing! I've enjoyed my first game of CORE as Communist China (Summer of 1940)... Going to play as the UK tomorrow and see how that works out :)

I LOVE the tech tree changes and all the new ship models!

Rest of the techs are going to be changed in next releases.

first impressions have me a little concerned about Japan. I did an analysis over at stonyroad regarding Japan. One of the most pressing concerns is that there simply wasnt enough IC to even be able to build the historic number of ships that the japanese built, let alone build up the army or airforce. From what I'm seeing Japan looks like it might even be weaker in CORE than in vanilla or stoneyroad.

Looks like an interesting mod though.

It is a great mod, with even greater potential! I still find the tech tree somewhat confusing, so a good FAQ is a must - eventually. For now I have great fun just trying out different strategic paths to see where it takes me.

I for one like the fact that it no longer seems possible to take over the world with Brazil or Turkey. Particularly the pre-war IC and resource restrictions limit the agressive potential of this class of countries. However, it also makes life difficult for countries like Japan, and it is now almost impossible to for instance build up neccessary fortifications and AA on your many islands - at the same time as preparing/fighting a chinese war. On the other hand, it is probably closer to the historical reality, and you now really have to be clever to do better than the japanese actually did in the WW2.

All in all,great fun!

I like it. Clearly, the mod is not finished, but the new events are fun and less ic all around forces one to make choices regarding what to build. Like someone said, Germany can no longer build everything.

The new tech trees are basically that which I hoped HoI2 would have had. For me, vanilla HoI2 tech lacks depth and as a result, many tech teams are basically useless.

Haven't played past the Sudeten events, but it seems that sea warfare will become much more interesting. With battleships taking a long time to build, they will be expensive to lose, much like in real life.

Big fleets - big problems ?

Mostly, I quite like it.. some things take a bit of getting used to, mind you. Am less than convinced by the single ship thing for fleets - the screen just cant show some of the huge fleets (the names just scroll off the bottom), and trying to scroll through a fleet with 50+ ships in (or, indeed, a build screen with 30 ships at the top, before I get to anything *I* have ordered built) is (frankly) a pain, especially if you aren't especially interested in trying to fight large naval battles, etc - many players choose Germany (as poll after poll tells us) and Germany really doesnt have the capability to push out a fleet that can sensibly deal with the RN. To me, it feels a bit of a negative feature, though (at this stage) it is more of an annoyance than a deal breaker. If players can't manage a huge fleet, what was the point of having it, as it were.

My test game is on hold, since it is Germany, and I haven't started the Czech events yet - I shall probably try another country, and see how that looks, to get another viewpoint on things.
