Is the AI hardcoded to do certain things in the campaign as opposed to the sandbox game?
I haven´t touched the Sandbox Mode yet but from what I can tell in the Campaign mode is that the same "events" happen which I guess is supposed to be since it tries to depict the cold war but almost immediately you have the same AI behavior from nations reacting to the event in the same manner all the time.
For example, the Korean War, always 5 nations are engaged in it. Canadians, Americans and the British, North and South Korea . No other nation EVER gets involved, apart from these 5. Also I don´t understand why Canada and the UK would be at war with North Korea? Unless they have mutual defense contracts (which I doubt) and there is no UN to speak of (except for flavor but no real powers), well why would they throw their units in a fight that does not really concern them UNLESS it is hardcoded for these nations to do so.
I´d be interested in other people´s impressions thus far.
