I love this game, when it works its a beautiful brilliant thing - but I swear I've never had a more bug-ridden experience, and I run Total War Med2 okay?

I put DV on my laptop and it will now CTD's every single start. Am running it on a desktop and it is slow, choppy, lagging on saves and each end of month. Music is bad.
I could not get the 2.1 beta patch to install on either system, kept kicking me out to a retry/abort pop-up.

I have to ask. Is there even one person out there who has ever just installed this game and had it actually just work? Is there even one person at Paradox that understands how infuriating it is to see the potential of this game and not be able to play it for more than five minutes?

More importantly, and I'm really in doubt by the way: is there one person at Paradox that actually cares about how their customers feel when they have to go through forums and postings and patches just to get a product to do what it was designed to do in the first place. I have now had this game for a week and not been able to make it work on either of two very up to date systems.

The time and effort PI's customers have to go through just to play the normal game that they paid for without a crash or error or crappy gameplay is truly astonishing. It is a tribute to this game that I am still here asking for help. But I am asking. For real help. intended to actually have me using the product that was paid for.

Is there anyone who will actually help me get this to work? Pardon my rudeness, but in all seriousness: Is there anyone at Paradox that actually gives a damn about truly helping their customers?

I pause for a reply.

ps yes, i read the stickies. I just want to know someone is even here and pay attention before i go into all my issues.

Ehh. I figure it's a fairly marginal, rhetorical point of the post, but: yes, there is at least one customer who has straight-up installed DV and had it work quite nicely. (There were some freakish crashes, but I could reasonably expect to run eighty years before one.)

In more useful information, although I am relatively incompetent in terms of these issues, I would advise posting system specs and operating system and whatnot. Even jut the XP/Vista thing can cause some serious screwups. (Vista likes dual processors. XP doesn't but is better - untweaked - on many, many, MANY things. And both have some genuinely odd problems.)
