Hello,

I'm new to the paradox forums, Cities Skylines, and the modding community. I have used mods before in other games and know how much of a headache they can be. I was managing fine with them for a while, I ran into an issue with an asset and received a message after loading a new game so I unsubscribed and the game was fine. But thennnn I got some more assets and I can play the game with just fine with no error messages but if I want to "quit to main menu" the game crashes. Is there a relatively easy way that I can figure out if a specific asset or mod is creating the issue or should I just try a process of elimination and disable or delete the newer assets/mods?

Okay, so less assets.. check lol. I just reinstalled my game.
It is too easy to get carried away when browsing the workshop- before you know it you find yourself to another hundred "essential" mods/assets. I have a clear out every couple of weeks- amazing how many "essential" assets I never use! Its an addiction- many suffer from it!

Yep, I'm having a really hard time right now lol. I keep getting really excited and subscribe to a bunch of mods/asset's to where it makes my game lag too much.. so I unsubscribe from a bunch, sometimes all of them but then I'm like "okay, I'm just gonna get few, go slow, see how I like them and how well they work..." but then I wind up going apeshit "I need decorative thing and this decorative thing, I need this whole collection, I need this to go with that" I spend more time doing this than actually building cities. D: and when it lags I sit here thinking like "I need a better computer so I can subscribe to all the things.. maybe I should save $2000 and have my boyfriend build me a new computer".

Yes, I'm having a real hard time right now lol. I'll subscribe to a bunch of mods/assets to where my game lags too much.. so then I'll unsubscribe to a bunch, sometimes all of them. But then I go back into the workshop like "okay, I'll just go slow.. get a few and see how I like them and how well they work". but then I get soooo excited! Like "I need this prop and that prop, I need more low-level commercial, I need this entire collection, and I need this collection to go with the other collection". and then of course I'm back to square one with the lag and having to unsubscribe from everything. I spend more time doing this than actually playing the game now. D: When it lags I sit here like "you know what? I need a better computer so I can subscribe to ALL the things!! Maybe I can save up $2000 and have my boyfriend build me a new computer...." : |

you can build the computer yourself

I'm sure I could! I actually need a new fan, he's getting me the fan but I'm going to install it with his help. While we're at it I'll have him point at all the different parts and tell me what they do. I think it would be interesting and obviously helpful if I want to improve my gaming experience. :)

Unfortunately, a new computer won't help with the "crash on exit" problems. It doesn't seem to be related to the hardware but rather it's some kind of bug with the game itself. I went from an HDD to 500 GB SSD - no difference. Then I upgraded from 8GB to 16GB of RAM, no difference, game still crashes on exiting to the main menu.
