I played CK for a while. Than bought DV and got the patch.

Now I can't conquer anything. Whether I'm warring on pagans or Muslims, whenever I "liberate" a province, I never get the option to keep it. Even if I get the ruler to agree to not press his claim during a truce, he still ends up with it again as soon as the truce is accepted.

How do I make them give me their lands?

If you are selecting the green option (to install yourself as count) you should get the province :)

If that is not the fact i am not sure what is happening. But a reinstallation of CK+DV+beta patch (oct2008) might be in order.

Turns out I was just clicking the wrong box. I feel silly.

I think we have all done something similar and complained in a thread here .. just to find out that we were doing something stupid :D

At least you found the problem ;)

I had something similar happen to me once. The Duke of Gwynedd went to war with the Count of Powys. Both were my vassals, but I figured it would be an easy way to expand my demesne, so I also declared war on the Count of Powys.

Having captured Powys, the count agreed to recognize me as the Count of Powys. The war ended and Powys became part of my demesne - for about 10 seconds. Without any warning, and without any reason, Powys suddenly belonged to the Duke of Gwynedd.
