I need some assistance..I have the dreaded vista and have not been able to play HoI2 on this system. I was able to install but it crashes...I was playing and everything was fine untill Monday...Anybody got any Ideas..

[I posted this in a different thread, but it's apropos here as well]

I had a very similar problem under Vista 32bit, nvidia 9600 GT card with updated drivers. Overnight (after install of service pack 1) HOI2/Arma stopped working. Loading would proceed normally until I clicked on a scenario, whereupon the screen would blank and dump back to the desktop with a 'HOI2 has stopped working' message. Clean re-installs of HOI2/Doomsday and HOI2/Arma changed nothing. Reinstalls of Nvidia drivers did nothing. Changing the HOI2 install folder did nothing. I finally took the advice in this thread and renamed the folder 'Avi' that binkplayer.exe is in to force it to be skipped on game loading.

Worked Like A Champ! I don't know what it is about binkplayer, but it has caused many problems over time for me in HOI2. I hope this works for you; it's worth a shot.
