Many people, including me would be curious how Hearts of Iron 3 would turn out. Considering EUIII has 3D graphics and fully random events (as opposed to pre-scripted events), its likely HoI3 Will be much like it.

What do you think about it, and would you think out would happen?>

Red, that's ironically how HoI1 did it, IIRC. You researched parts (such as a 120mm gun or STS armor) with different tech teams and then put the parts together to create your own units.

I know how HoI did it... that isn't what I'm proposing, they also had your IC and research linked, which meant you could spend time techrushing, and that created all kinds of other issues. I still want tech teams. However I want the ability to assign more than one team to a project.

I think that HoI III should have a much difficultier economic system (like Victoria has :p ) then I MIGHT actually play that game again  .
Right now this game is much about WHO HAS MORE IC AND BETTER research teams, more iron, coal (I presume that electricy is coal) and oil. There is no such thing as hydropower and all agriculutural resources and incomes are zero. There isn`t such thing as wood or concrete. And upgrading should be pain in ass, I mean if u research 88mm Flak, then u should be able to use on Flakpanzers and if u have researched some decent panzers, then some adding times should be used, but they don`t have to research a whole new (FROM ZERO) flakpanzer if they have some main parts for it already. Combo research-for instance nuclear subs u should be able to use navy research team+nuclear research team, and same with others difficult ones nuclear BB-s and so on... rocket team+panzer team+artillery team=SP rocket artilleries
They should make trade system more realistic, that isn`t realistic if u are Estonia and can buy oil from USA with same price (some political price differences interventsionism vs. isolatsionism) as from CCCP. Geographical distances must mean something in this game...
Just some thoughts from my !"¤%¤#=? head

it could work very pretty well,if you researched MP40 SMG,and when you started a research of infantry who uses it,it automatically researched
the system HoI2 is a bit odd,why i have to research Flaks again when researching Flakpanzers?

This would be a little complicated, but I would like to see more specific factories. like you could have 50 ic for vehicles and 30 for planes, that way you couldn't build all tanks and then switch to all planes because certain factories could only make certain things in real life. That is just an idea though...

I would like to see a smarter AI, a more complex economic system, and more doctrine choice. I really like the idea of multiple tech teams working on the same thing.

This would be extremely complicated and I don't know if anyone else would like this, but I think getting rid of provinces would be a great idea. Instead the world could just be one big terrain map. units could occupy a certain amount of space that way you could still maintain a continuous line. Plus this could make battle lines less straight like they were in real life. I just like how unit movement works with provinces.

I think graphics should be kept to a minimum to keep the game running fast and smoothly. I just hate the slow down in later years.

Yep difficult IC system :) That isn`t realistic if I can build with a tank factory whole bunch of nuclear plant details or submarine engines, very sepecific IC system and some factories that produce factory parts would be cool
Just like in Vicky but much more complex... :D

- Better and more detailed map and I mean ALOT more detailed.
- Removal of ocean regions
- More units with alot more customisation for divisions (think of the differences between a UK armoured division and a German panzer division)
- Better combat system for land but especially sea and air
- Some sort of organisation system for your armies, air force and navy

These are the things that I think must be improved. The rest can be better but isn´t that bad right now...

A look at the old War in the Pacific would do Paradox good. It is a game on the operational level, when HoI is on political strategical, military strategical, operational and tactical level. But not particluary deep in any of the levels.

By looking at WiP Paradox could improve the operational level of HoI3 by far.

Exact new features are not always good features. We are many who just want to play on a map which resembles a military staff map with counters.

But not nearly enough to convince game-distrubutors to buy a 2d strategy game from a game-developer.

If there comes a HoI3 it will be in 3d, maybe not because Paradox wants it but because the 'market' wants it.

And NO, we (the players) are not the market. Paradox doesn't have to sell the game to us, but to game-distributors and game-stores (they are the market for Paradox). And they won't put a 2d strategy game on their shelves.

You can rest assured, that HOI3 will use the same engine as EU3.
They wont make a new 2D engine just for HOI3...
my only hope is that HOI3 is NOT the next game on the block....

EU3 was partly unfinished, and nappy will remedy many of the things that went missing... the good part is that for every game they make with the engine the more function you have acess to and the faster you design with the engine. So for HOI3 to unleash its full potential, it should be based upon a fully fledged engine, that has some games on its back :)

Of course it will be the same engine, I don't think anyone argue that. But the interface could nevertheless be 2D, at least optional.

And I don't buy into that PI should shoot themselves completely in the foot and don't listen to their customers of old. Certainly not when it comes to such things as having HoI3 looking like a table top wargame. The market isn't endless and this kind of games will never win the 1337-kids over, so there is no need to pretend the game being something which the game isn’t. In DD it was the sprite guys who suffered the most, not we counter guys. It doesn’t mean that it always is going to be so, but it at least tells that assuming the opposite is wrong.

IF HoI3 was future-based, it would be tough to make leaders/ministers for nations. Impossible, I'd say.

But, in other hand, WW2 is fully gone thru. Except if Paradox is going to finally make something really new.

Please don't remind me :(
I will begin crying if HoI3 get's 3D:( My poor old Windows ME will not tolerate such graphics!

I will be crying if HOI3 gets 3D regardless of the specs.

here is your way to salvation.

I would like to see some aftermath details in HOI3...not just that old bold scores for allies, axis&comintern. When I first time finished long campaing I was kinda frustrated coz there was absolutely nothing to see after the game was over. Even EU3-like history list would be better...

I won't mind at all if HoI3 is 3D. Most likely, that will decrease the lag experienced at the end of the game, since the processor will no longer have to do calculations for graphics as well as gameplay. And 3D could significantly help the mapmodes. For instance, the political, geographic, and weather mapmodes could all be combined (if it is raining in German-controlled Metz, which is a forest province, then there would be gray ground with trees on it, and a cloud raining, all at once. But... I'm one of those people who likes sprites. I just can't stand looking at something as boring and unmoving as counters, so perhaps I just don't understand the great thing about 2D.

And... I appear also to be one of the few people who doesn't believe that EU3 graphics are not ugly. I don't own the game, but by looking at the screenshots I think that it looks fine.

Edit: Now I do own EU3. The 3D graphics are extremely nice.

you know what i'd like to see?

i think that HOI:3 should adopt a technology and unit system similar to Superpower 2. if you haven't ever played the game, basically you research certain parts of technology, and then you can design your own units based on the limits of your technology.

simplified ex.
you research various elements of ground units (not infantry, but support) so that you have:
gun range-4
gun precision-2
gun damage-5
speed-4
armor-3

you could then design a tank, artillery, infantry vehicle, or anti air with those specs. of course, a tank with those specs is better than an infantry vehicle, just because it is a tank. anyways, it's really hard to explain, but i hope i've given at least an idea about what i'm talking about

You'll find a system like that in HOI 1. This one is much more playable. You will see that each technoloy tech is broken down by its parts in the tech description in HOI2, and in fact your tech researchers study them individually. It used to be that you actually had to set up the research for all of those techs, but it was decided that it was more streamlined to have them all as part of a larger tech, and the ai, so to speak handled the details.

I liked the old tech chart and it was a lot of fun, but when it came down to it, it interfered with playing the game.

What i would truely enjoy, would be the ability to create your own events, in the game. Say the button for "negotiations" could allow you to demand territory (with a realistic chance of success, like the Czechoslovakian provinces). Introducing pressure, a countries wish to stay at peace, custom treaties (How come you only get anything that historically existed? Not everybody mods).
