As you may know, Paradoxian has a Hearts of Iron 3 wiki. This wiki has been a great resource for much of HoI3's lifetime, but sadly it has fallen into disrepair due to registration being indefinitely closed on Paradoxian.
By now it is for the most part outdated, with most articles last updated for FTM or even earlier.
Therefore I've now created my 4th Paradox game wiki, a Hearts of Iron 3 Wiki.
I've already updated most of its pages to correct obvious spelling and formatting errors, so already it should be an improvement over Paradoxian's wiki. And since anyone can register, or even edit without register, it should now be possible to get it up to date, and keep it updated.

I hope that together we can continue what Paradoxian started, and make the wiki a great resource once more.

Very nice! Thanks on behalf on just about everyone on the forum, I think.

So how does this work? If you read something that is wrong for TFH, you can just edit it on your own? Because that baby needs a ton of work!
Yep. Anyone can edit, even without registering. Though if you don't register, you'll have to enter a CAPTCHA for each edit (because if not, it'd be quickly overrun by spam bots).

There's an incomplete list of outdated pages here.
Every page imported that hasn't been rewritten is listed here.

Meanwhile, somebody should get the scoop on Paradoxian and see if we might resuscitate.
I've been trying for a few months to get in touch with the owner of Paradoxian, with no sucess so far.

What happened to Paradoxian?

EDIT: Seems they're having problems with spammers and have closed new account creation. Likely they'll be back up and running eventually - no need for a new Wiki.
They've "been having problems with spammers" for a year or two now. They're not coming back.

I just made an account. New Wiki looks great. I have to ask:
Did you copy some text from the old HOI3 Wiki?
Every page from the Paradoxian wiki was copied over, with the exception of some namespaces and some unneeded pages.
All the pages were then run through with AutoWikiBrowser to fix a lot of formatting and spelling errors and such, and to assign the Import category. As pages are rewritten, they get removed from the category.

Good job.

I'm assuming this is now open for correction.

I just had a look at the "Division Building" section and it is out of date from a TFH point of view.

Are you looking for volunteers?

Are you/is anyone going to be policing it so that it doesn't get filled with inaccurate crap & personal opinions?

I just worry that if it's open to anyone & everyone, it's going to be a free-for-all mess.

Don't get me wrong, as I first stated, good job, I just worry is all.
Yes, edit anything you feel you can improve upon. If you want a more specific task I can probably come up with something though.
I go through every single edit made, and revert any vandalism and such, and improve upon anything that just isn't quite up to the wiki's standards. I get notified by email about every single change within a minute or so of them happening, so things get checked pretty quickly.

The version template has now been simplified to correspond with my other wikis. This should make them easier to use, and make maintaining the wiki simpler.
The formatting change has been applied to all pages with a version template assigned. Now, rather than listing a patch version for each expansion, just the latest expansion it is up to date for is listed.
Any page with a version template that is not up to date for Their Finest Hour is listed here. Any help with getting them up to date would be much appreciated.

yeah, I had a quick peek at the Beginner's pages earlier.

This will be a mountain of work.

I will register and help out, but I can't promise to be regular about it. I have work, RL, my interviews, a new AAR starting soon,...
Any help is appreciated, no matter how major or minor :)

Ive tried to create an account. My problem s identifying the cat. Click on cat pic then click adopt me, most seem to be not available, but even if they are what am I supposed to do
You just need to click on the cat itself; it should get a green border around it. Select all the cats, then hit Create Account.

I struggled with this until I realized that the pictures enlarge when you mouse over them.

Click them once & it's easy if you enter the correct e-mail, DUH!

So I've taken the liberty of "fixing" the overview on combat width.

I suppose I'll get a WTF? message from you soon. :)
Looks good.

I'm looking at the Beginner's Guide and I noticed the following:

I think everyone is fairly agreed that this is a misleading piece of advice. I'm just not sure on how to phrase what I want to say.

if this is the wrong place for such a discussion, please redirect me.
Well, it does depend on what you're producing. A single production run is always a bad idea if you have the time to do more, since you then get the mentioned practical benefits and thus save IC days.
So if one has the time, it's generally best to do as many production runs as possible. As an example as Germany I tend to produce runs of 2-3 airplanes all the way until September '39.
And if you don't do a smaller run with things like Carriers for example, you'll waste a lot of time.

Hey look, something I can do!

Lots of these are rather out of date, and mostly apply to FtM and SF. I'll see what I can change up with my (limited) knowledge.
Yup, loads of outdated stuff. The outdated category doesn't even cover all of it, as a bunch of pages are missing the version template.

Thanks :)

I've tried to make a start on "Brigades" but I want to include a table listing all the brigades, their abbreviations & fire types but don't know how to format it. Sorry.
You could look at the formatting here for how to make a sortable table.
I've redirected brigades to unit types now. It definitely needs a rewrite though.

The wiki seems to finally be gaining some ground on Google. It is now 4th for me when I search for Hearts of Iron 3 Wiki.
As more links to it start to pop up around the net it should rise even further.

There are glaring errors in the supply page that have been around since v1.3. Do I change them myself or report/submit them to committee as I am quite sure some "expert" will come along and change my changes. These misconceptions refuse to die.
Go ahead and correct the mistakes yourself. If you don't feel up to the task, write about it on the page's Talk page :)
If there's anything controversial, just make sure to mention your sources on the Talk page.

(The best way to get people to fix an incorrect wiki page is update it with glaring errors that piss everyone off)
That'll likely just result in me reverting the edits within a day at most; within minutes if I'm at my computer at the time.

So I just looked, and yes, the guide under "Nationalist China" is dated to 3.06FtM.

However, the way the wiki is set up, there isn't a "list of guides", so to speak. Just the one link from the Country Guides page.

Ergo, I'd have two choices:

A) Edit the page in one, gigantic swoop, which would require me to take hours at once (something work may frown upon ;p), and pray that I get all the wiki-formatting right (I don't do a lot of wiki editing)
or
B) Edit the page in chunks, which will result in it (until finished, which may be a few days) being a hodgepodge of current and out-of-date info.
B) I'd recommend going section by section.
Alternatively, you can rewrite it on the Talk page, and thus not edit the live page at all until you're actually done. It also lets me (and others) ensure all formatting is correct before the page goes live.

if the discussion/talk page doesn't exist, go ahead and create it.

I created a page for the DWI mod, but it doesn't look like the other mod pages. How do I get it changed to use the mod page template?
By using the mod template? :p
See the other pages for how it's used.

Meneth - I have made major changes to the logistics reference page, but I have no clue as to how to make a talk page (I am quite new to this). I have spent the last two weeks using the game to verify every change - even things I have known are true for years were rechecked. This page is nearly complete, but it may need stylistic changes. I should only attempt these after a break, this way the material will appear fresh.
Click the red link at the top saying "discussion" page and you will be taken to a page where you can type your comment, creating the page.

From what I've seen your changes are a big improvement. It might need some changes when it comes to things like grammar and writing style, but it is definitely better than it was.
Would you consider it up to date for Their Finest Hour? If so you can mark it as such by changing the bit about the version at the top of the page to say {{version|Their Finest Hour}}
