There needs to be anarchist groups aswel to counter both the Reactionaries but also the Authoritarian Socialists as personified by the USSR.

Okay so we have coups (Very happy with these and excited how they will turn out) but what about supporting nationalists who represent countries that are part of another for example Byelorussia within the Soviet Union or Occupied Estonia? I would really like to be able to aid partisans/nationalist rebels in these areas both while at war or when at peace with the faction who has them under occupation. So I guess what I'm trying to ask is will it be possible say for Ireland to support nationalist rebels in Northern Ireland or for Germany when at war with the soviet union to support the Ukrainian and Byelorussian nationalists. Which if given enough support could breakaway to form a new country on its cores like this civil war mechanic where they now fight against their former oppressors/subjugators. This would be a nice alternative mechanic to simple occupation by Germany of those regions using those old occupation laws. Obviously I'm not suggesting that this would be some automatic event - releasing these countries - but one that perhaps needs to have some sort of "Hearts and Minds" political advisor or foreign relations advisor plus perhaps some industrial capacity, equipment and political power to achieve or maybe it follows a similar system to this coup system. Perhaps progress towards this outcome could be slowed and even nullified by Soviet partisans operating in the area. What do you all think of this? @podcat @Rufo @HoI IV

Why? They only ever controlled bits of Mexico, the Ukraine and Spain in the 20th century and failed horribly in each, even though Makhno was cool.

Also: Greece seems to be divided by states, but what if the country in which the coup takes place is a one-state-country like Albania appears to be?
Whilst a good question, why would you waste time an resources orchestrating a coup in such small countries when you could just declare war.

Since we are talking about civil wars, I would like to make a suggestion to the devs about the SCW. I was thinking you could make Sanjurjo's death an event. With a small chance of him surviving his plane crash(Or not getting in one at all). If Jose Sanjurjo is the leader of a victorious Nationalist Spain he could be more inclined to bring Spain into WW2. I got the idea from the book series "The War That Came Early". It's filled with alternate history scenarios that are just fascinating to contemplate.

A civil war should raise WT only a tiny bit, while declaring war also runs the risk of other countrys joining in to assist your target. That could spin into a major war.

its a design thing because this is a game. The world is a sandbox for player, but if every AI would use this mechanic there would be no WW2. I can think of a few cases where it may make sense for AI to do it, so we might add it though.
yes, you can defend yourself with party boosting ministers (there are also things from focuses and national spirits). Other players may also help out.
Will AI at least be aware of coups, and so anything to counter? In HOI3, the feature was extremely shallow doe to AI not knowing how to defend themselves and their allies from coup.

Great Britain should be countering any German attempts at coping France or USA.

I really like the information put out here. I look forward to reading about Germany. Especially all the other majors. What have we had done so far? France and Italy I think? Definitely Italy. Japan, Germany and the Soviet Union are my favorite nations to play as. Then the USA.

Could the civil war in Greece been stop until the election? If yes does the communists take power and remove elections completely? And finally was the rebel flag the flag for communists Greece?

Also, awesome diary

What do you mean exactly? It was a dictatorship that stopped when Germans occupied Greece combined with Metaxas death, there were no elections planned. Do you mean something else?

The game time frame feels too short for all these political options we get. Perhaps we could someday in the future turn the game into a post Treaty of Versaille game where we forge the path of any nation in the world from 1921 until 1961?

I'm imagining a scenario where Japan sponsors an armed uprising in India led by Chandra Bose. I look forwards to seeing how that can play out. :)

How are overseas territories dealt with? For example British/French North Africa. If a civil war starts for either country does one of the forces have to go claim the entire opposing half of the empire? or is the split limited to home territories?

Otherwise sounds pretty great!
