Summary
Heir that cannot inherit turning game in bugged observer mode on character deathDescription
My character was the Sultan of Aghlabid Sultanate.During an event at the court (I don't remember if it was while holding court or an independant event at the court), my daughter approached me about my son and heir who was picking fights and killing commoners outside of taverns. My son was actually proud of it, and my daughter was asking me to remove him from inheritance.
I chose the option to have him removed from inheritance, and to make my daughter who reported this behavior my heir.
However, my kingdom, and then my empire (as my character became the emperor of Maghreb) did not allow male inheritance, so I suppose I should not have been presented with that option at all. During the reign of my emperor, I did not receive any notification that there was a problem with succession.
When my character died, one of his sons inherited the empire, and I was suddenly in a very bugged observing mode (see attached video), most likely because I began playing my daughter who had no title (because she was not allowed to inherit any), which was kind of a game over, but without adequate notification.
Upon reloading the game (save exiting and then coming back), I am in the normal observer mode, with the option to pick a character to play.
So the bug here is as much about the resulting bugged interface as about the fact I was proposed with a choice making my heir someone who could not receive any title, and without any warning or proposed option to make my heir the one who would actually inherit my primary title.
Mind this post is different from the following ones, as the problem is my heir (gameplay) was not my real heir (title inheritance) :
