I've recently bought eu4 and I'm doing my first campaign as Castile. I've conquered Granada and I'm now at war with Portugal, who is allied with England (who isn't doing anything really). I've occupied all Portuguese provinces except Ceuta in North Africa. Early in the war, my Navy was defeated and now Portugal has a much larger navy just sitting in the straits of Gibraltar while the remnants of my navy is sitting in the port of Cadiz. Portugal is also blockading most of my ports (cant remember exactly how many, I haven't got my game open at the moment). The current war score is 35%, which isn't enough even to get control of Porto and Lisboa, which I wanted as a minimum by the end of the war. I've tried getting a white peace with England to get them out of the war but they wont accept. Will my war score just gradually increase over time, so I just have to wait it out? Could I try building ships in all ports and when I have enough, trying to take on the Portuguese navy again, and maybe occupying a few provinces in england to get them out of the war? or is it best to just get a peace treaty with as much as I can now, then rebuild my navy and try again later? I have a positive income of ducats and sailors, so I could build a navy but it would take a while and be bit all over the place.
