in the last patch and beta , it works without problems , so i suggest you get the 1.07patch then the betapatch from forum here then try again

is there any problem with running it on XP? i have had no problems running the original or the betas
Very vague problem, but I'll have a stab in the dark:
It could be the Bink player, try renaming the avi folder.

Anyway suchiar after you have renamed your AVI folder you may try:
1.Setting your color quality to 16bit
2.Matching your desktop resolution with your in game resolution
3.Installing new Directx drivers..

Okay, Sounds like you need to wipe EU2 from your system and reinstall, then patch to 1.07 and try with just this patch and no mods or betas, see if that works.

when you reinstalled did you install to the default directory?
Also which version of the game do you have? Strategy first, UBI soft ...
