Hi all,
I've been trying to run BTA but the "refreshing save games" bug has been frustrating me. Managed to narrow the cause down to Modtek. Vanilla BT works perfectly fine. Downloaded every version of Modtek from 4.0.0 onwards from Github and followed every instruction to extract it but I still cannot progress past the main menu.

Modtek does not show up at all when running the game, no mods are detected/enabled, I cannot exit the settings menu and an infinite loop of "refreshing save games" occurs.

This persists still after shifting BT (and steam) out from the program files structure and excluding BT folders from Windows Defender, so the usual causes of file location and antivirus interference are out the window.

Any help (or theories) are greatly appreciated.

Can you use an older version of Modtek? I only ask because I know that the Hyades Rim mod I play uses Modtek 0.8 and does not support the 4.0+ version. I'm not sure what BTA requires, but trying an earlier version of Modtek may help.

...I can't believe I didn't think of this before.

Rolled back to 2.0.7 Modtek with the injector and it worked perfectly loading into vanilla. Not tried yet with BTAU, but it should be compatible. Right now, I'm just ecstatic that I can finally load into the main menu.

Regardless if BTAU can work with this older Modtek, thank you so much! Your idea has been a godsend.

Update: Unfortunately, BTAU does not work with older versions of Modtek. After testing, BEX's installer uses Modtek v4.2.0 but it works...somehow. Praise the omnissiah!
