Help!! IP Problems

Hi guys,

Having rather annoying problems with joining and hosting games, I try to join and I get the message like "Could not find game at IP xxxxxxx etc" When I try and host my friend gets the same kind of message, We've turned our firewalls on and off added exceptions and the like but nothing seems to help.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

It sounds as if either you or your friend has a router or something that is still preventing you from connecting.

Have a little discussion to see if its your friend whilst figuring out if it is you.

i had the same problem, if any one of you have a router it would become imposible for playing on multiplayer under those circunstances.

for solving that problem, what i did, was to call to my ISP and told him the situation, at that moment i was lucky tha agent played games online, so he knew exactly what to tell me. in your case, call your ISP and use microsoft windows help, on how to set up a VPN (virtual private network) conection, this will create a relation betwend your computer and the router, assigning an ip addres every time you log to the internet and dial the VPN.

it eficciently gives you the cappability to join and even host games.

also, you could try to acces your router, if you are experienced or sure of yourself, by the 10.0.0.1 webpage and open some ports. that wway nothing could go wrong.

sorry i can`t give you more detailed and technical advice, but im a law student and the ability of explaining in detail the steps are far from my reach.

you also might want to look into the free VPN software Hamachi. It seems to work in situations like this.
