I'm trying to run a 1936 Core2 v.25 game to support an AAR that is halfway written, and I'm having just a little trouble. My settings are at normal/normal.

I just don't want to let the Americans declare war unless they are attacked!

It goes with historical background to some degree, and I'm trying to push the envelope just a little (my Japanese are now fighting English in Egypt, the Turks are going to attack us in Persia, and I'm thinking of giving the Russians a push toward bitter peace).

But it is June of 1942, and I haven't messed with the Americans one iota. So I'd appreciate it if they didn't join the British Alliance (historically, the Americans were never in a formal Alliance Treaty..i.e. approved by Congress, with the U.K. and Roosevelt was having some difficulty convincing the Congress that war was inevitable...that whole isolationism thing). I'd also appreciate it if they didn't declare war unilaterally on Japan. I used Wordpad to change the EUG file to "last peace June 1943" but every June 2nd, the Americans and Phillipines declare war on Japan.

Does anybody know how to mod this so it won't happen (that sounds like proving a negative, but you all know what I mean).

Thanks in advance.

Actually...

I said it went with the historical background.

Of course it isn't exactly historical, however I'm not the only one who came up with an attack UK/AUS/NZ/Neth without attacking the U.S. Read it in a collection of "what if Japan did things differently in WWII" essays.

The historical (actually ahistorical) background is mostly before 1936. What if the Emporer studies engineering/business instead of natural sciences as a hobby? Realizing that logistics and industrial might win wars instead of elan and martial spirit, he coopts the Kodoha into actively direting IJN and IJA actions prior to and during the conflict.

I'll even be willing to accept the silly Yamamoto is killed by the U.S. even when the United States has no access to Yamamoto (no New Guinea Campaign, Japan has puppets in Australia and New Zealand). In the AAR, I'll write it off to an aircraft accident.

And yes, it is fun, but within the structure of the game, it is "realistic." I've tweaked nothing to this point, just changed the production and military concepts of Imperial Japan (love our Chinese, Tibetan, Australian and New Zealand client states...they provide excellent #s of border and beach defense infantry).

Acceptall, sue for peace with the alliance leader, white peace. If that doesn't work (the US declare again) you'll have to find the AI event that tells them to pick on you and disable it somehow, forex by adding it to the slept events in the save files (search for "sleep = {").

Perhaps you could just raise their isolationism enough that it will be impossible for them to declare war? (save game edit or reload as USA and "freedom").
