Help! Patch won't work and crash my installation

I recently bought this game in the UK, version 1.07 (GREAT game, by the way ). Anyway, I installed the game, then installed the 1.08 patch, and when I tried to play the game, a dialog box popped up informing me that "CD must be in drive. It was in the drive! Once I re-installed and didn't use the patch-the game ran smoothly.

On a side side note, I have to questions:

1)Is there any way I can detirmine what's the tech level of my enemys?

2)If my trading post is making 35 five ducats a year, how much of this do I actually get? The tooltip says the money goes to the COT. Does this mean I make no direct profit from a trading post?

I had this problem also when I bought the Benelux version (I live in Belgium )
I downloaded the patch and got the same prob. This was because I got the UK patch. So i re-installed everything and played like that. A week or so later the Benelux patch was released

So: Where do you live? Which language version of the game you have? Make sure you download the appropriate patch

1. look at the graphs in your ledger

2. that's right not a penny unless you have merchants in the CoT (I think)

O.K: I live in Israel, my computer has English and Hebrew installed and the game was bought in England so I'm guessing it's the U.K version.

I'll try re-downloading the patch.
