Help please CTD

Hi all,

I've been happily playing HOI2 for months (I was clever and ordered direct from paradox it is patched to v 1.1) recently I recieved a bonus from work and upgraded my Graphic Card.

Since then I have been getting reptitive crashes in my UK GC (1936) it may be date/event related (seems to be happing in june 1939)
Now the curius thing is it never happened on my old GC.

Current system

Win2k sp 4 all windows update updates included, 5.0.2195
41 gb free on the hoi2 HD 5 gb free on system hd.
DX 4.09.00.0904
Athlonxp 2500+ Barton at 1830 mhz
1024 mb pc2700 ram
Radeon 9800 pro 128mb (running latest drivers 8.10-050119a-020581c-ati)
2d driver 6.14.10.6512

opengl driver 6.14.10.4898
Catalyst 05.2

Asus a7v8n Delxue version (ob board s6.1 sound nforce 2 chipset) I'm looking for latest drivers as I type!
(nivida apu, drv version 5.10.2917.0 contorl panel 1.00.00.0307 later drivers are availble from nvidia but they don't work with the Asus board, Asus claim I should only use the drivers found on their website I'll give me a try anyway )

Now my old kit was the same with a radeon 9500 pro 128 mb.

I'm running version 1.1, I have manual altered the french event file but those events where to do with Vichy France and so shouldn't be firing in june 1939.

This is my first UK game and I don't really want to lose it and have to start again!

Yell if you want a save, i have one where if I load it the game crashes almost immediately afterwards!

If you have a reproducible crash from a save as you say then it is unfortunately a bug and you need to follow the instructions in the sticky thread. Sorry, hopefully 1.2 will be out soon and you can get your report in and fixed by then. But really I have nothing to do with bugs, sorry.

Some things you can try after you send the save off to Paradox.

Load the game and play past that point with another nation.
Try some radicall different things with the nation you are playing.

Neither are ideal situations, but I thought I would offer.

Thanks for your help I'll follow the bug reporting thread when i get home tonight, and I'll try playing past my problem. At the mo the save loads and then crashes the moment I unpause! doesn't even get to the next midnight recalc everything stage! ;( and it was all looking so good!

You seem to have an older version of directx installed. Have you updated it since you changed gfx-cards?

I don't think there is a later version than 4.09.00.0904 it is certainly the one I use.

It is the latest version, unless microsoft don't know themselves!! I use windowsupdate.com It's easier than anything else!
