I’ve recently downloaded AGCEEP (Base version). When playing, I’ve noticed that some flags (the new ones of the mod) are not shadowed when are in a section of the map covered with the “fog of war” because these flags are 24-bit instead of the regular 8-bit of vanilla EU2. I’ve tried to convert them in 8-bit (using both Corel 11 and Adobe Photoshop), but the flags did not result as originals, they simple resulted incorrectly rendered. Practically, these flags looked horrible and a square appeared around them (like some error with the transparency occurred). Someone knows how is possible to convert them in 8-bit bitmaps correctly?

Yes, but I did it with Paintshop. One thing to remember is palette to be used.

Take a 8-bit vanilla flag, save the palette and then apply the palette to 24-bit AGCEEP flags with "Use nearest color in palette" option (or something like that).

The only problem with 8-bit palette is the lack of blue nuances (but this is not a problem with flags being used actually).

In near future, 8-bit AGCEEP flags will be available at separate download for those who, like me ;) , don't like 24-bit flags brightness in fog of war.

I’ve converted the flags using Paintshop as you suggested in your post and they now look correctly in the game, and are also shadowed properly. I’ve seen that the green tones are not converted very well, but is not a real fault. Thank you very much for the answer, your explanation has been really useful.
