Help with downloading patch

I am having trouble downloading the latest patch from any of the sites suggested. I actually think that it is a problem with my settings and I hope one of you more computer savvy than I can help.

When I left or right click on the link to the patch, I get a box called File Download, the world icon is passing the page to the file icon and it says
Getting File Information:
xyz
Estimated Time Left:
Download To:
Transfer Rate:

None of the last three ever have any information in them, and this box stays open for about 15 mins before closing. As I mentioned, this happens whether I left click direct on the link or right click and select open, open in new window or save target as.

I cannot download anything, I also tried one of Bolts zip files and the same happens.

I have just received my copy of HoI and would like to patch it before playing, as suggested in many places here.

Select "Tools" pull down menu, then Internet options, then Security options, then click on the custom button, Scroll down the list untill you see "File Downloads" Make sure this is set to enabled.
BTW What publisher made your game?

Still no luck downloading

Hi Castellon,

I checked the tools/secuirty/custom option, downloads are enabled. I have searched through the help and support that comes with XP and on the microsoft site. If I could put it in layman terms, it's as if it thinks it is downloading but it is not really.

My game is the Strategy First version. Received it 8 hours ago now and have been trying to fix this downloading problem ever since (at least I've finished reading the manual while I was waiting!).

Try reseting your security to medium.
If that does not work:
Try running the program directly from the site.

Are you using a firewall?

Thanks for the help Castellon, I have downloaded and successfully installed the patch.

The problem was in the stored off-line content. I had gone to Internet Properties/General/delete files but I had not checked the box delete all off line content. Once I did this, the download worked fine.

On with the game!
