Hi. :)

Is there a way to avoid the random national idea change when a populist ruler takes over in a republic , or is it hardcoded?
If so, is it possible to reduce the stability hit you get when you change ideas?

And, can i set the prerequisite of a number of senators of a certain faction, instead of the consul, to allow/revoke laws?

Both of these are hardcoded, sadly.

Not exactly. You could use biggest_party = x so that the laws are available when X party is the most powerful. That's probably the best you can do.

As i feared. :(

Another question: if i want a new family to pop up in the game, will an entry in the cultures.txt be enough or do i need to place a file in the families and/or characters folder too?

Thank you. :)

Just an entry in cultures.txt is enough, but selection of the name will be random. Not giving them an entry in the families subfolder will also mean that they might struggle with family prestige, but is not necessary.

One more.

Increasing the number of senators to 300: is there any practical reason why i shouldn't do that (apart from the odd-looking senate window) ?

More to the point, I don't think there's any practical reason to make the change in the first place.

I know that the Roman senate held up to 300 senators at any given point, but it's much easier to think of the 99 that are in the current game as being a percentage strength, rather than an absolute number. Plus, if you're going for historicity, you'd have to make the number of senators variable during the game - which, sadly, is not possible.

Another question, if possible even more pointless  -

Suppose i change the gain trigger for 'title_party_leader_X' to something else than 'is_party_leader = X_party'. Is there a way to replace the default 'is_party_leader = X_party' guy with the actual 'title_party_leader_X' holder in the senate window?
By event, maybe?

Probably not.

So, if I follow you correctly, you want to change the triggers for the party leader titles to something other than being the actual party leader? I don't see why that wouldn't work.

Regarding the is_party_leader, that is determined purely by whether the character has the highest Conviction for the faction he is in (assuming he's not imprisoned). Having the party leader title does not automatically make him have the highest Conviction, however the title does add a huge amount to that value, so it might end up indirectly making him achieve that trigger. It wouldn't matter in any case, since it's only the title AFAIK that affects anything.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes :)

Yes, like having decent charisma and a senator title, as well as being member of X_party, of course.
Morover (and without a good reason ) i want the title to pass to another character if the holder becomes consul or governor.

Nope. Not even with the insane 1k conviction modifier.

Just checked and it's random-guy-in-the-box-in-senate-window that affects diplomatic actions and elections.

Badly.
