I tried to build a "Mayor's House" using the asset editor. I built it on a "park" template, (empty grass lot) and placed a house as a sub-structure. I used the asset "Lv3 4x3 Detached09" for the house, surrounded it with props and a hedge fence.

The problem is that when I try to build it in the game, the house vanishes while under construction (or a couple seconds after it is completed), leaving an empty lot full of props. When I reload the asset in the editor, it looks OK but the substucture name listed in the properties window has changed to the name I saved the asset as (Mayor's House). Manually changing it back just results in the same thing happening.

What am I doing wrong? How do I get the asset to "remember" the substructure name? I'm pretty new to this game, and I'm loving it so far, but this is driving me crazy.

Meanwhile, back in the asset editor...

The problem is the house you're using is a growable and growables don't really work with subbuildings. You would have to create the house as a new building (park or unique - something not a growable) then add it to your park (or just use it like that building since they allow for larger than 4x4 lots). It isn't the easiest thing in the world to do - you'd either have to change the AI of the building, which can go wrong and corrupt the building if not done correctly or dump the mesh and textures to then reimport it all. For the latter you could follow this guide and just ignore stuff about changing the texture.
