Apologies in advance if this is the wrong forum for a tech support question, but if it is I hope a mod will move me to the right spot :).

I just downloaded the digital version of VV (from GamersGate) and I'm having a terrible time getting it to run at all. My scenario:

1) I bought Rome from directtodrive.
2) I upgraded Rome to 1.3
3) I played rome
4) I downloaded VV from GamersGate
5) It installed into a totally different directory from rome.
6) When I run it I get an error dialog with this in it:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

Things I have tried:

A) upgraded directx
B) upgraded vv to 2.1
C) dropped my vv install directory on top of my rome directory (overwriting files) on the theory that the installer might have screwed up

To date none have worked.

Any suggestions would be appreciated :).

For some reason, even though I am registered, it says I can't view that page? I haven't been on these forums is a *very* long time; perhaps my account is "semi" retired or something?

$vbulletin->userinfo[username], you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If not, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

If you fear your account might have been disabled without knowing why, you should contact the Forum Administration. Do not re-register under a new name!

looks like you got this resolved, but let's move this over to the tech forum anyway to keep things tidy.
