September 9th, 1542. Unfortunately, our army in Timbuktu be too small to begin a siege of Gao. 10,000 cavalry have been commissioned at a cost of 170 ducats to rectify the matter. Mali have requested military access. Since the only thing Mali can do with that be to kill Morocco, I have advised my lord Ahmad to consent to this request.
May 5th, 1543. Fez won an important battle in Morocco, but Songhai be doomed...by Mali. They refused a white peace. Fez's hands be tied by their tremendous arrogance. Our only hope be to settle with them after their province has been taken, but before Mali annexes them behind our backs.
King Ahmad hath dispatched royal representatives to the siege of Gao, because the court feels that Songhai will come to its senses when faced with the prospect of becoming Malinese.
May 17th, 1543. There was a merchant riot in the Sahara. What can one do?
June 1st, 1543. Gao fell to Mali. Songhai was nice enough to pay 100 ducats to the alliance, and since that alliance no longer includes Benin, that means 50 ducats to beat Morocco to a pulp!
Of course, we do not want military access so that in future conflicts we may in fact conquer the Songhai.
August 8th, 1543. We won an other important battle in Morocco. They now have no army, no future, no hope. Hail Fez!
June 4th, 1544. We have captured Toubkal. Morocco offers us 52 ducats.
June 5th, 1544. We annexed Morocco. We now have a worthless trading post in "Sarawak," and a potentially useful trading post in "Malindi," near Somaliland. Hail Fez!
Most of King Ahmad's dreams go along these lines.
November 8th, 1545. The "war" with The Kaliphate was concluded with a white peace, who had been allied to Songhai and Morocco. There be no wonder why The Kaliphate splintered.
January 1st, 1546. The new taxes are 83 ducats. Surely, Fez shalt be rich in a few years.
March 26th, 1547. The Kingdom of Fez hath established the colony of Mdennan, and it shalt eventually grow into a revenue producing province. The cost was about 86 ducats. Doesn't it look like a nice, cozy...Islamic place to live?
January 30th, 1549. I poisoned my lord Ahmad at breakfast. Now my new lord Muhammaed shalt rule! This fellow be wise in the ways of speech, and shalt bring great glory to the reputation of Fez. Sultan Muhammaed makes the legendary Sultan Muhammad look confused! Let all Fez rejoice, for Ahmad the average be dead.

September 6th, 1549. By royal order, Muhammaed has proclaimed that Fez can not afford to rule both land and sea, and so we will pick the land. Henceforth, the ducats previously allotted towards oceanic improvements shalt be given unto foreign trade development. We might as well adjust domestic settings towards land as well, when we are given the chance.
Healthy, robust Fez.
