So... I harboured a family of Muslims as Duke of Leinster, using one of them as my Marshal. After choosing the 'forgiveness' option when I had the 'Muslim in the court' event, I was excommunicated. Me, the Papal Controller (2k piety). O_O. Has this happened to anyone else?

I mean, I just revoked my excommunication a moment later. Except I didn't notice I had the Heretic title until after Ireland started falling apart (practically the King of Ireland, but too poor to declare it. Currently trying to conquer and unite the provinces once more but that title dooms me to rebellious vassals, even blood relatives.. unless I granted the titles to the Muslim family.... :X ).

Fork over gold or you get excommunicated (it's for the starving Irish kids, I swear). =D

Reloaded back to before I chose the forgiveness option. I decided to send the Inquisition instead (although I do have a converted Muslim in my court). It wasn't much help. My vassals hate me the same as before, it just took a little longer for everyone to start breaking away. Ten years later, I finally have peace, and I am pretty sure my Duke will be dead before he can afford to become King, at -2200 gold now. A 'receive gifts for revoking an excommunication' command should be created...
