Chief of Pacific Operations Panzeh had a statement to make..

Gentlemen, our real threat does not lie in Germany or Italy. Neither of them have the naval capability to land on our shores. No, the true threat lies in the east, with Japan. Japan has a powerful navy and is much more willing to use it than anyone else. If the Japanese were to land on our shores i'm afraid the army would not have the capability to stop them.

Our response to a Japanese threat is plan 'Orange', based on a shootout between pre-dreadnoughts that could be expected from the Great War. I must say that that plan is woefully inadequate. I will devise a new plan, called plan 'P', based on modern realities and expected movements of the Japanese forces.

For the voting, I think it would be best if we sent our votes to Ederon (so long as he agrees) in order to keep them private and in order.

Thanks for your approval men :)

Yes, you can vote by PMing me, with subject High Command AAR: PE '36 or so. I'll count public votes too though. And don't try to cheat! I'll count only one of these two! :D

So no dimpled chads? Oh darn... :p

General WeirdOne27 sighs heavily as he looks over the three choices for President.

After sleeping on the matter, I still cannot see which man would be best to lead America.

General Warman-mx, the third and newest candidate, has a strong stand against Communism. Indeed, the threat of Communism is grave. Still, that is a political battle to be fought at home. What are we to do with an army? Invade the Soviet Union? Attack Earl Browder?
(Just kidding! You know we love you, Earl! :D )

Creating jobs by building up the military is an interesting theory, but we do not have the industry for the sort of build-up General Warman-mx calls for.

I hope the candidates will have more to say.

Just to clarify, are the presidential candidates running on a joint ticket, or are seperate elections going to be held for Presidential and VP slots? Because I'd personally like to see a Rocketman-Wolfhound ticket :) And if thats the case, how are cabinet and upper officer positions going to be decided? All by presidential appointment, or a few elected positions?

VP is going to be picked by victorious presidential candidate. But indeed he can decide during campain. Cabinet is gonna be picked by president, no further elections. So with other positions. It's matter of either president's or government's decision.

And as for votes, they'll be accepted from Monday through Tuesday. So don't send me your votes yet, it's still time for that ;)

A couple of questions:

Once the election is decided, and the President picks a VP, will we start the AAR? Or will we have to wait to appoint cabinet positions?

Also, since we're having the election NOW, does that mean the winner here wins the '36 election, or will he run again in '36?

Winner wins elections '36. Once president is elected, he (and everybody in subordination) can start planning strategy and issueing commands. If there is lack of people for positions or if president doesn't want somebody in (yes, he's the BOSS :p), we'll proceed either. Even VP can be picked later. To keep things flowing.

I'll start US game already, till November, when elections are held. Then it shall be your turn :) I'm not yet decided, but AAR might start just with elections, that means in the fall 1936.

Will you be advancing the U.S.'s economic and military capabilities? Doing nothing until Nov. '36 wouldn't be fair.

EDIT: Actually, the new term starts January 20th, 1937.

I'll play as usual, not leaving it all lay for 10 months. And since elections are startpoint of this AAR, we'll presume new term starts just after elections. Unless there is somebody who doesn't like it...

The only thing is CORE has it as an event. Otherwise, I'm with it.

Will the President (and maybe candidates) and cabinet be put in-game?

Sweet! :D

US Situation in November 1936, just before elections

I've played CORE scenario to beginning of November '36, when our elections are being held. I've played quite conservatively, improving industry in below 10 IC provinces, building some coastal fortresses in naval bases and researching some things. Not much army production to save MP, which is quite low (around 30). Elections are on 4th of November, so be prepared ;)

US Presidentail Elections '36

I think it is time to begin. You can vote for next US president in the poll which might be hopefully added to this thread soon. That's the change from what I told before, but I believe change good way. That means once there is poll, only poll results shall be considered. Candidate who receives most votes in the poll wins. Poll shall last for three days (72 hours), but only results till my final statement counts (i.e. I'll conclude elections on Wednesday GMT morning).

Title: US Presidentail Elections '36
1. Mr. Seidita
2. Mr. Rocketman
3. Mr. Warman-mx

God bless America! ;)

EDIT: yes, and who voted already by PM, please vote again once poll is available. Thanks
