High Command: Reader Driven AAR (Planning)

"This is what my Foreign Policy would be:

How to develop relations with North/Central/South American countries:
Use all our influence to get these nations on our side. maybe we could bring them into and Alliance in the future?

Realtions with UK and Commonwealth:
Be as friendly as possible with the British Empire. The Brits are our natural Allies and the closest of all the nations to our Ideology.

Attitude towards Europe and European matters:
We must take a great interest in European matters to prevent a repeat of the Great War that cost so many lives.

Soviet Union and Comintern: How to treat this problem:
Encircle them with American Allies. Befriend Britian and France, and possibly Italy and Germany. Nationalist China should be given support against the Communists as well.

Pacific and East Asia:
Not much is happening in this Theater. The Japanese expansion into Manchuria was worrying, but Japanese Nationalism seems to have died down. I would focus most of our energy on Europe and the Commies.

What does everyone think?"

I agree with these proposals. We need to maintain good relations with the Americas and the Commonwealth, especially considering the power of Britain's Royal Navy.

I believe you should specify 'great interest'. I doubt that, in case of another Great War sparking, that the Europeans would consent to a peace mediation by us.

I'm somewhat surprised you refer to the Soviet Union as a problem. Certainly, it can be a force to be reckoned with, but the USSR is just as isolationist as we are currently. We should not provoke the Soviets into believing that we want to isolate and destroy them.

Japan may still propose a threat to our Pacific interests... I suggest we adopt a wait-and-see attitude towards Tokyo.

Agree. But, to be on the safe side, we should be prepared to take immediate action if the Monroe doctrine is violated.
I suggest that our General Staff develop plans for this eventuality.

IMHO, we should let Europeans run Europe.

Is Comintern a problem? Economicaly cripled, with no navy at all? How could they possibly threaten our interests?

On the other hand, with its fleet, Japan pose bigger threat than Russia. We should keep an eye on them. I hope that our Pacific fleet is in a good shape?

My two cents:

We should keep our Navy strong and up-to-date.
We should build decent expedition force in case of the war in South/Central America (Marines or Paras maybe?). Plus, build air group assigned to support this Expedition Force. Tactical bombers and Long Range Fighters would be the best, due to large distances between provinces in South America.

And, of course, we must research as much as possible.

So far for my Vice-Presidental duties ;). I will post my Air defense strategy later...

I already express concern about Italy and Germany, and Russia seems to be eyeing up the Baltic States and Finland.

About Japan. What have they done to make us suspicous? By all means we should be more worried about the British (they have the bigger navy), but we're not. I say let us not worry about Japan at the moment, Europe is the bigger threat."

Europe is not our business. We have very little political influence over there as is, and any attempt to increase it may bring us into harm's way. Also, I promised the people my administration would focus on America's domestic problems first, and adopt a defensive posture to the rest of the world. How will it look if just after my taking office, America starts shoving its nose into European affairs? And then, there is also the backlash from Europe. We can't very well mess around in Europe and then claim the Europeans can't mess around in the Americas due to our Monroe Doctrine.
 
I believe our armed forces should be given better weaponry. If we were forced to intervene in South America, we could not do so with current military technology. I propose that our armed forces be given at least weapons that could match any nation's army that are in our Sphere of Influence. It would also save us man power, which we have very little to spare.

Remember, the better the weapons, the more lives we save. It's worth the investment.
 
Anybody who wants to be in-game commander, look here. Those who are, look there too, but one exception applies to you: you don't need to post here after you generate your character. :)

You can re-generate your character. There is chance to get more traits (up to all available, but that chance is really small). Most commonly you'll end with one trait. Enjoy.

LE, i put up two commanders for you to use. the first one is my handle. as it seemed reasonable to me that the trickster trait be part of my "personality", i 're-rolled' to achieve that result, even thou it cost me a skill level. please disregard the first listing for Mj. Gen. GhostWriter. the second commander was named after an ancestor of mine... needless to say, i was amazed at achieving four traits for him, all deserved no doubt.

fyi, i was killed in 1993, hence the handle. :cool:

hmmm. as i understand this game, you cannot add or alter commanders, ministers, etc. once the game has started. yes?

that said, is this a feature of CORE? instructions please? also, if you want more commanders, let me know. i can 'supply' pictures with some additional commanders...

My aim was not to get new leaders because lack of them, but to get leaders recruited from this forum, so people here become part of US history in this AAR. Just to give it a different feel.
