Hello,
Save files attached.
The one with suffix "preOTOMANSWAR" is my safe when the Mission was not yet completed (8 years ca., but from the same run)
As for the steps to reproduce. - Timeline from the preOTOMANSWAR:
Anexed Byzantium (most of it)
Ottomans Anexed rest of Byzantium
Released byzantium
Attacked Tunis
Attacked Dongola
During the war with Dongola I was eligible to complete the mission, but a lot of rebels were spawned in the area of Delta and Cairo
I completed the war with Dongola and went to the mission tree.

Now I can't recall if the province was still occupied by the Rebels or not.

I clicked the mission and completed it. -> Sound as when you take loans played. No event Popped up - I thought that it is okey, maybe I skipped it with "c" by mistake... But 20 years later and the canal is still not present.

Is this sufficient?

Thank you for the confirmation!
So anyway - I expect that it will be fixed with the new patch, is there a way to prevent this issue from happening?
Would the patch fix the save, or would I have to start over? Should I restrain from Mamluks, until patched? What was the cause? Was it the rebels?

Yes, the issue was most likely rebels. If the province is under siege or occupied, when the mission and event are completed, the construction of the canal will not start. I am afraid that starting over will be necessary, there is no way to revert the changes in an ironman game after the mission and event were already completed :/

Hey!

Just wanted to add that I currently have the same problem. The suez canal is there, but its grey with no construction. Unlike your suggested option with the rebels, this territory never changed the controlling party.

Instead, what I believe to have happened, is that I was constructing a manufactory, and the queued construction stopped the great project from starting. The Suez Canal Great Project only appeared after the manufactory was finished; There was no great project to be seen while the manufactory was being constructed. At first I thought the event to be completely bugged, but after the Canal appeared, I'm pretty sure it has something to do with a building in the queue, too.

Hello! I have the same issue, but no rebels have occupied or have I built anything after I took the event.
More than 10 years have pasted after I took the event.
