dose any one know where the first event for ger. is? the one where they get +1 spped on BC and HC? i looked at the "start up" event folder in "HIP Doomsday\db\events" but coudnt find it can any one help me?

Sorry you didn't like what you've seen with HIP so far Colonel Warden. I have spent many hours working on the British OOB for both our '42 and '36 scenario. All the information I have inputed for the RAF comes from the RAF historical files on their own website. If you don't agree, call Mr. Blair and take it up with him. The 2-26 event and subsequent governments of Imperial Japan have been improved substantialy over standard Doomsday files. How about our complete naval-class adjustment we did to the RN and other world navies that was throughly reseached? How about the economic and resource system that is in our mod, clearly the best in the HOI modding community. Your point about shipbuilding is interesting one as well. Though we strive to make this mod as historical as possible, some game mechanics must be taken into account. Since prewar nations build up IC slowly, England is unable to build King George V class BB's in 1936-39. When they have the available IC to spend on them after war is declared, they end up being finished and commissioned roughly at the same time they were in real life.

Instead of insulting all our hard work by saying "isn't this mod supposed to be more historical?" why don't you start your own mod and make every single change that you suggest not to mention the thousands we have done that didn't comment on.

If in the future you have some more thoughts on this mod that you can write in a polite and respectful manner, please feel free to do so.

Colonel Warden is right;
2nd Group was forming in 1936 two active squadrons start of 1936 No. 21, and No.101 and two of their squadrons formed in 1937.
3rd Group was forming in 1936 five squadrons active in start of 1936 and one of them was a training squadron, 3 squadrons fromed in 1937 Nos. 37,115, and 149
4th Group was forming in 1936 2 active squadrons at the start of 1936, two formed in 1936, two formed in 1937,
5th Group was forming 1936,37 two squadrons formed in 1936 4 squadrons formed 1937 and Nos 106 and 107 squadrons were still reserve training in Sept 1939

The squadrons have been removed and their names have been entered in the unit-name-list for tactical bomber Groups.
So the first ones you build should get those names.

RAF Strategic Bomber Command could not be renamed to RAF Bomber Command since without units it doesn't exist when the scenario starts.

This is temporary though. I'll talk to Alekpier608 about this matter before making it final for the next version.

Raf Oob

Jackson,
The formation of the 2nd Strategic group occurs in march or may of 1936. What difference does it make if we simply include at the OOB start. The UK doesn't have the IC to spend of new bomber units in 1936 anyhow so they aren't going to be building an ahistorical number of Strategic Bombers. If we don't include 2nd and 3rd group at 1936 start, they won't get build until 1939.

v.0.66 is up

Changelog:
v0.66 (checksum: NRPJ)

  • Bohemia and Moravia will no longer become German cores when Czechoslowakia is split up
  • Austrian and Hungarian cores revised
  • National Uprising in Slovakia should now give entire Slovakia to Germany even if it is allied with Hungaria
(Hungarian cores in Slovakia will be removed in this event)
  • 1936 RAF OoB revised
  • 1936 Kriegsmarine OoB revised
  • O-class renamed Deutschland-class Panzerschiff
  • Hood-class renamed Admiral-class
  • Minor icon graphic changes
  • Efforts to make HIP fully compatible with the German version (it is already functional) started
  • Translation process for compatibility with German version started
  • New country names: Republic of China, People's Republic of China, Republic of Korea
  • World resources drastically reduced (area distribution untouched, just overall amount reduced)

The resource change is work in progress so keep us informed if you think it is not enough yet or too much. We are also working on a way to dynamically change the resource amount each year. We don't know if that is possible though.
Huge resource stockpiles at the beginning of the war should be impossible now for most nations and most resources. Especially oil shortages can happen now, and the UK should depend on US deliveries more.
The lend lease events will be revised later to further improve this.

Also note the slightly changed installation instructions:

Install instructions (Windows XP):

Use windows explorer to copy the folder

"C:\Program files\Paradox Interactive\Doomsday\"

into the same directory, so you have

"C:\Program files\Paradox Interactive\Copy of Doomsday\"

rename this folder to

"C:\Program files\Paradox Interactive\Doomsday HIP\"

Delete the following directories will all contents:
"C:\Program files\Paradox Interactive\Doomsday HIP\ai\"
"C:\Program files\Paradox Interactive\Doomsday HIP\db\events\"

Delete everything in
"C:\Program files\Paradox Interactive\Doomsday HIP\scenarios\
except for the subdirectories ..\data\ and ..\save games\

Install sequence:

1) HIP v0.58 Graphics.rar (if not already installed)
2) HIP v0.66 Graphics.rar
3) HIP v0.66.rar

Extract all files into your \Doomsday HIP\ directory overwriting all present files.

The raiders once again

He all,

Done a few more tests with my 1936 BC's (Scheer, Deutschland and Graf Spee). I sent them out to raid convoys in october 1939 to the Atlantic and the South Atlantic. Lone ships, no screens. And guess what, there doing great !

Based in Wilhelmshafen I use the move command to manually plot a path to their destination (the path the AI plots is not always the path I would take).
Once at their destination I give the raid convoy command. They stay at sea for many months and sink a lot of convoys. Sometimes they are intercepted, but they managed to escape (allthough the Graf Spee was damaged so much that it had to return to port).

All in all, I use my ships for raiding now, instead of leaving them idle in port like I used to. It takes a little more micro management, but that is fine with me. Baby sitting my capital ships is kind a fun :D

In that case I'd really like you to try the new version. If you block the UK's convoy paths and also interfere with their oversees trades, you might get them into big trouble. Especially their oil deliveries to their front line troops via convoy should be very vulnerable now since oil is a lot rarer now and the front line depots will not be that large.

I might have to get DD then.

You got it ! Will have to start a completely new game for that though. May take a while before I reach the test period of september 1939 and beyond.

Reducing the number of available resources will potentially have a huge impact. Playing Germany, I am never starved for oil. Now there will be a real incentive to go for the Caucasus. Also, the UK can really be hurt by an effective sea lane interdiction. My raiders will have a field day.

I'll report back my findings when I have them. May take a few days at least. I have a wife and kids you know :D

Hi, I've already said that your mod is the best and I was wondering if you were going to rework the Spanish Civil War at all because as the USSR I managed to ally with Franco after I intervened and made the Nationalists my puppet.

This is due to an event when the Nationalists annex the republicans they turn into Paternal Autocrats and all their policies reset when thay should have stayed as Stalinist.

Also when I helped the Republicans I did not get any Soviet civil war experience event, Germany gained an event even though the war was still ongoing and Italy did get an experience event afterwards even though it was the Soviets in charge of the Nationalists and all the the Italian volunteers were dead! (I must of killed them)

I did write about this on page 61 but I think nobody likes me.

*laments*

Hehe don't worry, we read everything in here. It is just a matter of priority. When Doomsday extended the timeline to 1953 we found that after 1945 the quality of historical events is more than suboptimal. No correctly functional Korean War, no Greek civil war, no correct Middle East events. Nothing at all.
We really want to get all that straightened up, including making stuff like the Morgenthau Plan or Churchill's plans for a Donaufederation possible.
With all that in mind we're still working on enhancing the game as it is and put a huge ammount of work into the Battle of the Atlantic to make it possible to beat the UK via Sbbmarine Warfare.
We also have plans to implement the historical correct (in terms of the plans of the Axis) partition of Africa between South Africa, Italy, Vichy and Germany, as well as Events for the Situation of USSR, UK and US after Bitter Peace and Sealion.
The Japanese surrender events are suboptimal, so is the entire Chinese civil war.

You see.. we have a lot on our schedule. But I assure you, the Spanish civil war is also in there. We might even use some of the techniques we might find to improve Korean and Greek civil wars to enhance the Spanish one.

Patience my friend :)

Personally, I'd go for partisans but either is fine.

Many thanks for the new version, really interested to see how the resource changes affect things :)

Was there a good chance of the rebel Greeks of succeeding? If so, I'd suggest giving them their own country. If it was more of an isolated/doomed from the start rebel faction in the Civil War make them partisans.

Yeah, I always send the Graf Spee to the Rio Plate basin. If the outcome is historical(Graf Spee sunk) or ahistorical(Graf Spee sails to victory) there is always fun to be had using single ship commerce raiders.
