I will second that - we are having an unreal time and it's the smoothest mod we have ever played in MP, and we have tried a bunch.
Probably brought up somewhere, but Vatican City has been annexed like 200 times over and over again by Italy? Not sure what is happening there, but it doesn't effect anything so we just ignore it.

thanks a lot ! i never played it in MP and now i know everything works fine. you should fix the vatican event , that the game show an annextion in the gamelog . you can still see if another country gets annexed , but the popup-message won't bother you any longer.

loki,

in our game i am playing as italy. i have not entered the axis, but i have conquered yugo and romania. my question is i seem to be getting absolutley no ic or resources from these countries. italy has hovered between 29-33 ic since the game began based on AI events. while i have had military moblization, it seems italy is left out of the 'ic awakening' that has taken place with the rest of the world powers. i know italy is WAY overpowered in vanilla, but they seem almost crippled here. i also notice techs and leaders no longer give any bonuses for the most part, which i assume is WAD.

btw my friend is playing germany and just got stopped in his tracks in france, which is a testament to your work.. the 'easy way outs' that work in vanilla dont work here. great job!!

i don't know what year you are , but italy gets an industrial_modifier of 15 when you are at war with a major country ( ENG,USA,SOV...) and you get 11% in the beginning of 1941 . remember that italy nearly lost against greece ,because they took half of albania . their war-machine is not so capible as other major countries.

perhaps he had build the wrong units ?! it took me once 2 month to annex poland and last time with the perfect taktic only 2 weeks. he has to use the moment of surprise against france ( advance very fast against belgium and try to cut units of supply). if it take to long to take french provinces it will take longer and longer to win against the frech army.

Yeah, you're restricted to the historical military spending that the countries had. Japan doesn't pick up till around 1943-44, the US picks up around 1941-42, etc. Prevents countries like the US from making gigantic militaries in 1938 before they even go to war.

Lol, I was very, very tired - and that's what I'm sticking with.
I was a month late and took a less than direct route through Belgium which killed me.
I did take out Norway, and then for fun I took Sweden as well in order to liberate Scandanavia - however that option was not available.

Hi,

when I play I try to learn something about some of the ministers and leaders I encounter, so from my recent UK and CAN games I noticed some minor mistakes that could be corrected:

-Canadian minister 45068 George Eulas Foster already died in 1931. I got him in the 1940 election event, he needs to be replaced in this event with ernest lapointe (minister 45005) I think

-said lapointe has no death event but he died on 26th november 1941, his successor was Louis St. Laurent (minister 45072) whose wake date needs to be changed from 1942 to 1941

-canada minister 45037/45045 robert manion has no death event but died on july 2nd 1943

-uk minister 1006 hugh sinclair died on november 4th 1939

-uk minister 1010 owen boyd never led the RAF, at gamestart this was edward ellington, new minister entry needs to be created for him

i already started a test game to watch the impact on all changed stuff . perhaps you had not enough ic to reinforcement all your units at the same time. but the time factor of reinforcement is 3x times longer then to build it new and only cost 1/3 .

What's the rationale for reinforcement taking so much longer than new construction, anyway?

look in the misc.txt . everythings is explained there , but the reinforcement has to cost 0.3333 and that's why the time is 3. on the other side a unit with experience takes longer to reinforce , instead to create new units with no combat experience.

Scandanavia is not available in HIP.

HIP v0.71 is out!

v0.71 (checksum: EYLD)
-all files of v0.69 are added now (they got lost on 0.70)
-changes of canadian and british ministers
-3 death events are added
-minor changes of the BotA

Hi new to the mod, I read the changelog and find it very interesting and promising but I have a few question. I am sorry if the info is somewhere I didn't read all of the thread I confess. Anyway:
-Partition of Yugoslavia
-Partition of Greece
How are these done? I.e. do you just take all the provinces from the player and redistirbute or does the player have to something to say in this respect (some action_b perhaps)?
-GER Independent Croatia - Independent? As in not a puppet?
- Does the mod feature any events concering UK manpower in India in war time or Japan's broken Korean manpower events?
-for all countries "Silent Workhorse" trait replaced by "None"
-for all countries "Autocratic Charmer" trait replaced by "None"
What's the reason here?
-gearing bonus removed completely
-central planning slider set to 6 for all countries in the world
-standing army slider set to 6 for all countries in the world
-defense lobby slider set to 6 for all countries in the world
and again why???
-national army characteristics implemented - does it mean that e.g. 41 German Arm is different from '41 English Arm or am I misreading this?

And the last one - will your mod work with DAIM?

take a look in the events-folder "Surreder.txt"

No and no. HIP gives UK in the beginning +3% org for land units and HIP's research is managed through the ai.

What Gives....Is everyone on a holiday????

Has HIP has gone dormant...???

Never seen this forum so quiet before......is there a Christmas package in the offing??... :p

Cheers

Yes, what gives indeed?

It is very quiet here :(

What is happening to my favorite mod. Just played a game of TRP 0.9. And although it looks superb, I still think HIP does a better job in many areas.

Hope HIP will be around a little longer.

i work right now on the airtree and airdoctrinetree. also i work on other trees that it is still interesting to play after 45. i think i will release the whole package before christmas :)

Thanks Loki -- we don't always post here but many of us "drop in" on a regular basis, so don't think that there has been any drop in interest with this mod.....

Is the Panther anywhere about -- he seems to have been away for a while too....

Looking forward to your "Christmas present"....

Cheers

Exactly. Still very interested and looking forward to the next update.

For all you "indroppers" that don't post: do any of you play other mods too?
I have played HSR, but that was a long time ago. Don't know if it is any good right now. CORE I have never tried. Currently playing TRP.

In my perfect universe the perfect mod would be a mix of TRP and HIP. What I like about HIP is that they have skipped the whole minister/slider/build industry thingies and put in historical figures instead. Also I like the mobilization events a lot in HIP. On the other hand, TRP looks and sounds really good. I also like some of the 'flavor' things (SS divisions for example).

What do you think?

I tried TRP, but it was too obnoxious for me. By that I mean, the graphics were so horribly in-your-face that it totally distracted me. I didn't even finish a year of gameplay before I had to uninstall it to save my eyes. That, and I don't like the attitude of one of the devs I saw - he was an ass and thought TRP was the stinkiest of all cheeses.

I have CORE installed too, but I still prefer HIP.

What are your likes/dislikes with CORE? As I said I have never tried it.

My time is precious (I have two little kids) so I can't try them all. I want to play the best mod around if possible. So far that has been HIP afaik. But TRP looks like an unpolished gem to me right now. I'm sure they will release fixes within the next few weeks, and that will improve things no doubt.

I do hope that HIP will continue to evolve, but the buzz in this forum is minimal lately :( Luckily Loki drops in once in a while, so there is activity still.

Hmm... its been a while since I've played CORE, so I might be missing some things. Overall, my biggest niggle is with the naval system. I like having individual ships represented, but it feels like theres a lot of redundancy to them - like having passenger liners, freighters, coastal steamers, etc. Some are hugely expensive for little or no benefit at all. In fact, the armed transports are the most cost effective, so why even bother offering anything else? Similar to this, CORE gives the US Reserve and National Guard divisions that are immobile and at 10% strength. Why even bother? You can't use 'em and you scrap 'em anyways...

Likewise, having each ship represented is kind of a burden. I usually like to scrap all of my 1918 ships when I play - so now I've gotta hunt for the 100+ old destroyers to scrap 'em all.

CORE does have an excellent, extensive brigade system.

The plusses largely outweigh the minuses, but I still prefer HIP.
