Hehe. Havnt got the game yet, but setting up our thread for our MP games. Our Aussie group has all pre-ordered HOI 2. I should get mine sometime in the next 3-5 days hopefully, via express post from the US.

I look forward to testing it out in MP with our group. I let yous know on the progress of my shipment. Still has shipped yet, its only 7am on the 4th in Texas where it is shipping from. Ill check in the morning hopefully shipped by then. :)

Expressing interest in playing. No one nation preferance, but the smaller the better. (I expect to be crap.)

You know mike we actually played a game or two a few months after HOI1 came out? Until I gave up on account of crappy PC & 56k connection...

This time I have a 3gig, and a 256k Adsl I can speed up at a moments notice, if I have to.... :D

I've preordered from DVD box in canada, hopefully they'll be quick :)

Great to here mate, yea i do remeber playing a few games with you. I just changed my order from Gamestop to EB, Gamestop sucks not shipping until the 10th, EB on the 5th US time. Hopefully i'll have it by Tuesday, Wednesday next week. Keep a close eye on this forum once we all get the game, im sure we will get a big game going 6+ players.

Definatly. I'm keen for some MP action.

Mabye we can even get some short & sweet MP AAR's up after each game - tease all those poor Feb 14th people.... :D

I'm in!

Count me in any Aussie games! I think I'll want to take a bit of time getting the hang of the game with the tutorials and stuff first though. From what I've read in other threads there's a fair bit to take in.

A little off-topic, but I tried ordering from both Paradox and Amazon and they both refused my perfectly good credit! So who should I order from? Did any Aussie have luck with these two retailers? Any other suggestions?

The Race is On..

This will be interesting - other Aussies have ordered HOI 2 from Canada and the US - I ordered from Paradox - who will get it first ?????
Hopefully the airmail system from Sweden is working at Mach 2 - maybe I will be able to play within the next 10 days. ! !

We live in hope....

I'd bet good money direct from Paradox is the quickest.

I ordered from dvdboxoffice in Canada because I found it cheapest there - $65 Australian, free postage! (Whereas every US site I went to wanted like $25 US to ship it to me. What, does it get it's own airline seat??)

http://www.dvdboxoffice.com

I'd really rather order direct, Pdox gets more money then, but moneys a bit tight for me....

Anyway - I'm sure we'll all get it eventually, & play LOTS of aussie MP games :)

I just moved here from the US and am in the process of getting settled into our new home in the next week. I ordered the game from Paradox yesterday, so I'm not quite sure when it will arrive but once it does, I'd like to get into a few MP games. So just let me know when a slot is open and I'll show.

I had an error message from Paradox but it had actually worked. But by the time I realised others had the same problem I had changed my order to EBgames in the US. I'd check with Paradox if I were you as you might still have it on order. If not, try EBgames.

I'm up for MP but I admit that I'm not:
a. very good
b. very reliable
c. around much.
I guess I'll just check in when I can.

Cheers,
Duritz.

P.S. Welcome to the land Downunder Mad Mac! But Melbourne !!!    :D

I've been to Sydney a couple times with work, but I still prefer Melbourne. In fact I'll be up there Saturday for the concert for the Tsunami victims. So I'll get a chance to see the city as a tourist for the first time.

Good to see we might be getting a few new recruits for the group, i can see some 8 player games comming up.

On where i ordered from. Well first i went with gamestop, but they changed there release until 10/1/05. So i canceled and went with EB, should have know EB would have it first, doh. So im hoping it will ship sometime on Thursday Australian time which is the 5th in the US, fingers crossed.

For large MP games everyone will need cable boradband or at least a fast ADSL connection, nows the time to upgrade if you need to. From what im reading on the forums since HOI 2 was released its going to be one awesome MP experience.

For thoses new to the aussie group thread check out our thread in the MP section in HOI. Its one of the largest by a long way. Hope to play yous and conquer you as Mighty Germany, taking her rightful place as leader of the occupied world. Wahahahahahahaha

Thanks for the tips!

Thanks to everyone for the tips on the place to buy - I'll get it sorted tomorrow for sure. As you say, perhaps my order DID actually go through with paradox and a copy is already speeding towards me as I write this!

I was kind of hoping that my 128k ISDN connection would be OK for MP, but sounds like it might not be.... oh that's right, forgot - I can always play at work on a big fat T1 if I have to! Coffees better there anyway ;)

Trouble with North American Game Delivery

Has anyone visited the main HOI 2 threads - the Americans and Canadians are going bonkers due to game release delays over there -- very untidy.

I'm glad I pre-ordered through Paradox direct (AUS release on Feb 18 is too far away) - wonder whether this will in turn delay gameshop release here.!!

Cheers

It seems as though there is a delay getting it from the distributor to the retail stores, as EB has shipped my copy of HOI 2 last night. So should recieve it some time next week. Seems HOI 2 is destained to become a big hit, already stormed the top 20 and i think will aproach the top 5.

I doubt anyone here will have the game until next week as we are all in Australia. The reason we organise aussie games is due to distance, eg lag issues and also time zone issues. So all our games will be with fellow aussies as it is simply alot easier to arrange. The aussie group is a group of dedicated players that plays by group rules and plays regularly, eg up to 3-4 times a week on most occassions.

Can all thoses aussies out there interested in playing regular multiplayer games, plz either post here or private message me your contact details. 1. Email address, 2. Instant messenger like ICQ or MSN number or email. 3. A home phone number or mobile number so we can send an sms or phone you should times of games change, or an unexpected event occurs like vnet going down.

Hopefully we can get our first 6-8 player game up and running when everyone has there copies. In the meantime ill creat a database of contact details as we might be able to have 2 groups of 6-8 players should we get enough interest. If we have two groups playing at the same time this would be great as each new game we can swap around players so your not playing with players every game.

One important detail is you must have a broadband connection, or a fast ADSL. Dial up or slow ADSL will make game play unplayable with 6-8 players.

So send me your details guys if your interested.

What would you say is a fast connection speed for adsl?

At the moment I have 256 upload /64 download.

I was hoping going to 512 / 128 would be enough. Or would that be too slow?

Additionally, is upload important if you're not the server?

Would 512 / 512 or 1500 / 256 be better if 512 / 128 isn't enough? (in your opinion)

Fortunatly I'm on a pretty dynamic plan, so changing things last minute won't be an issue.

Well going to 512/128 would be required, we had people on ADSL on your current speed and it does slow up the game some what, espically when at war. Going to 512/128 would be a good. I think cable broadbands average is around 128 upload anyway and that is what we use 1500/128 at present. Upload is only applicable if your the host, the faster the better.

So i would upgrade to 512/128 if you plan on playing HOI 2 alot with larger groups 3-4+ players. Up to you if you want to go to a higher plan all dpends on how expensive.

Just for intrest sake i would like to know who your ADSL connection is with and what the price plans are. So i can compare to broadband.
