  • Hearts of Iron Anthology
Recently i bought the HoI Anthology Pack and installed Hoi2 Armageddon on my Vista-system. I patched it with latest 1.3b2-Patch before i started the 1936 campaign. In fact the game is nearly unplayable because i get every 2 or 3 minutes a random crash back to windows. It is not related to any specific event. If i reload the last savegame the next crash will be later than last one. Because the game has no options to turn off sound or deactivate graphical details i do not know what to do. I lowered already gamespeed to below normal but that also did not work much. Further reducing speed is not an option, game is now slow enough. I played from 1936 til 1938 with crash-reload-crash-reload-etc.-system but now i'm very frustrated. Reloading 20 times and more an hour is really heavy.

My system:

C2D 2.67 GHz
4 GB DDR2 800 MHz
Geforce 9800 GTX+
Realtek onboard-soundchip ALC889A
Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit
....all with latest drivers

It's just a bit annoying because no other game i played last few months (Mass Effect, WiC, Supreme Commander + FA, Fallout 3) showed this behaviour.

I never played any Paradox Games game before but i was interested in HoI3 so i wanted to give HoI2 a chance. It would be nice if somebody has any hints for me how to get this game more stable working.

thx for answers,

taroko

//edit

I also tried HoI running in Win XP-compatability-mode without solving the problems.

What is your checksum? Should be PHVR.

checksum is PHVR

i patched first to ARMA 1.2, than copy files of 1.3b2.rar to ARMA-folder

//edit

i managed to get some crash-logs. Here the one from Vista Event Manager (sry, german windows):

Fehlerhafte Anwendung HoI2.exe, Version 1.0.0.1, Zeitstempel 0x49de5445, fehlerhaftes Modul HoI2.exe, Version 1.0.0.1, Zeitstempel 0x49de5445, Ausnahmecode 0xc0000005, Fehleroffset 0x002e9385, Prozess-ID 0x17a0, Anwendungsstartzeit 01c9fbce8d1c9914.

timestamp, exceptioncode and erroroffset are always same on every crash-report

the next one is from inspectr.exe, another monitoring tool. It produces a very detailed crashreport so i post here only the first few lines:

I sent everything inlcuding a savegame to hoi2bugs@paradoxplaza.com. I hope they will find this bug.

If you are playing the 1.3 Arma beta patch the bug report goes to us.

Are you playing the game in German?

If so can you try and switch the game to English and see if the crashes still occur?

Ok, i will try it in English. The Email-address (hoi2bugs@paradoxplaza.com) i sent my bugreport with subject BUGREPORT to was ok? Or is there any other i should know?

//edit

Well, game in english language seems to work stable. I had in one ingame year only one crash which was the result of clicking an unnamed button in hints-window. There is also a bug with that because no hint-text is dislayed. The hint-window is now completely empty.
